Yeah, please elaborate.

Well after doing some more reading last night, I'm starting to like the IPV5. It seems like a departure from there previous offerings and appears to be a good value for what you get.

Maybe I'm just intrigued because I can't find one anywhere. However I have a whole week or so before I can sneak an order in so hopefully things change with the supply. I'm at my parents house for the weekend, one of the shops I frequent in their area has a cuboid in stock and an employee has a ipv5 so I'll swing by there later and do a quick side by side comparison.

What's the difference, if any, between the chip in the IPV5's and the SX line?

That's a good idea. Maybe seeing them both in person and possibly even handling them, will make a coming to a decision easier. Can't hurt.

Cheers,

Honestly, before buying either of two mods, i would wait, and see what cons ipv5 has, it's still new to the market. Would also recommend watching reviews about both mods.

Concerning the glitch, i remeber a reviewer or two, said that it has 75w glitch, it has a fix but don't remeber now.

For the joke part, i just wish p4u would respect the customer, and make a proper mod that works properly. I do respect ipv4s, ipv3 li, d2, other than that rest of their mods have been garbage.

And as a Joyetech cuboid owner, here are the cons of the mod :

1- it's a bit heavy, compared to other 18650 devices (but pocketable).

2- 25 amp limit on output (you won't reach 200w except with certain range of ohms, guess around 0.3 ohms not sure).

3- some complain of fire button rattle, mine is fine.

4- any tank/rda won't sit flush on 510, there will be a very small gap.

5- some complain of battery door not making proper contact with batteries, mine is fine.

6- there is a delay in fire button (0.7 sec), but am not sure if it's a delay or a ramp up. Only happens when mod enters deep sleep.

For battery life, at 0.28 ohm, 50 w, i can go through 10 ml of liquid before giving me weak battery.

Here you have it, by the way there are two hardware versions of cuboid that am aware of, v1.0, and v1.1. Good luck finding what suits you.

Well by looking at what they can do it doesn't seem like a whole helluva a lot, but I really don't know because I don't have either one. The SX Mini (ML) goes for around $200 so I would hope there is a difference. Maybe better components on the board? I know Yihi makes the mod and the chip and they control the price with an iron fist. That's part of the reason why it's that expensive. That being said, that is their baby so I'm sure they hold out a few things for that chip/mod. I really wish I could give you a better answer, maybe someone out there can.

The SX Mini ML is a single 18650 mod that does 75 watts. You can add an extension that holds another 18650 to bring it up to 150 watts (on the bottom - think Hammer or tomahawk). It is updateable. Built solid, relatively heavy. Heck, I think it would be better if I just give you the link and you can check it out for yourself. SX Mini ML Class

I was thinking the same thing, with price difference of the two, they must be holding back something and I can't find much info... Holy crap that magazine extension looks ridiculous; like a Glock 26 (small glock) with a 33 round mag.

Two bugs in the IPV5's firmware of which I'm aware:
  1. The 75W limit.
  2. Arbitrarily temporarily refusing to adjust power up/down.
#1 is apparently easily fixed. #2 is a bit more worrisome, in my view. Hopefully they'll both soon be addressed by a firmware update. Neither is a show-stopper, for me.

I have the cuboid and it's awesome. Small size, good heft, trusty tc. The ipv5 is considerably taller however. Sorta like the ipv3 and d3 mated. My vote's for the cuboid.

just curious, how did you come to make that decision? in your OP you were aiming for a mod with good SS TC, the SW 1.5 does not do SS, what happened?

Good question. I've pretty much decided on the IPV5, I'm just waiting for them to be out a little longer and come down in price, although it probably won't be by much. The snow wolf came along and was just too good of a deal to pass up. The IPV will always be there and I have two mods that I can use SS TC with. I will probably get the IPV5 next few weeks.

It is on pre-order at http://www.efun.top/ipv5-200w-tc-box-mod-by-pioneer4you.html for $42.99 and was $36.99 just yesterday i think they raised the price due to high demand, can't get any cheaper than that, i am personally so tempted by that price for a Yihi device.

Could be the demand is so high because you can't get the verkackte things
hot.gif
. I've been watching for them to show up somewhere state-side for two-three weeks.

Was just thinking about it, earlier today, in the shower. TBH: I don't really like any of the dual-18650 mods all that much. I'm leaning toward just getting another eVic-VTC Mini and being done with it.

If I need more battery than that, I can just throw a spare 18650 in my pocket--along with my spare change and stuff.

If you are going to lug around 2 VTC's and a spare battery, you might as well get a RX200. Get ready to hear that any time you mention your plan on this forum.

I was also thinking yesterday about getting the eVic VTC Mini, but one battery and 75W is just not gonna cut it with any serious RDA/RTA build, the dual VTC4s i am currently using with my Griffin with dual SS coils is barely getting me through the day, and if i vape heavily they run out few hours before going to bed that i am thinking of ditching the VTC4s for the LG Brown HG2 with 3000mAh so that it can last me the whole day comfortably on a single charge, who needs 30A bats anyways, 20A CDR with max mAh capacity is a better setup, also i am now using 120W ramp up with my TC, i get that instant punch which is amazing, i am really loving the experience and can not go back to sub-100W mods, none of that the eVic VTC mini can do so i passed.

Between the Cuboid, and IPV5, I'd go with the IPV. Just sayin'.

I actually got a chance to handle them side by side and liked the over all feel of the IPV over the cuboid. That's all that was left for me to make my decision, as there is plenty info out there (including this thread) explaining the pros and cons.

They have been scarce online and none of the shops in the three states I frequent carried them. The one I did get a chance to fondle belonged to a employee at the shop. I am starting to see them all over the place online so they will probably be in B&M's soon enough.

I was just kidding about the spare battery. I kind of figured that was obvious from the "along with my spare change and stuff."

I was also thinking yesterday about getting the eVic VTC Mini, but one battery and 75W is just not gonna cut it with any serious RDA/RTA build,...
I so far haven't built below 0.3Ω and kind of think even that is too low for how I like to vape. And I rarely, very rarely, take an RDA on the road.

TBH: I don't really vape all that much. I doubt I go through more than 10 ml a week.

Have never seen one in a local shop, at all. And I've looked. On-line? I just looked, again, today. Nothing but "out of stock." Except from China. I'm disinclined to order anything direct from China that costs more than a tenner.

Hey, @VaporCarp: I think I'm talking myself into another eVic-VTC Mini :D

One part that will probably be a decision maker for me -- And I'm still looking for confirmation on this, so anyone who can enlighten me --

Cuboid allows for balanced charging via USB**
IPV5 does not allow charging via USB (although I've heard in the affirmative *and* the negative on this function)

If that's truly the case, that's the deal-maker / deal breaker.

** Of course, I generally charge via dedicated charger. But I'm frequently on 12+ hour calls and if I need to plug in, I want to plug in.

I could but I have to spread the purchase out so as not to upset the wife. My vape gear has really been piling up lately.
Hilarious. I'm looking at the same two mods and can only get one for the same exact reason. I've been able to slip a few extra tanks by her because they all look the same to the untrained eye, but box mods are a different story. She'll notice the second I have something other than my XCube II in my hand, but if a Cuboid showed up at the same time?

cartoon-fight-dust-cloud.png

BTW, I'm leaning toward the IPV5. I've also been considering the Sigelei with the touchscreen just because, well, it's got a touchscreen! I also still use my little 30W Sig Mini from time to time and it's been as reliable as the sunrise. However, as only the second touchscreen mod I'm aware of, I'm wary of it a bit. First adopters always get the joy of waiting while a company works out the kinks in new technology, no matter the product.

My advice, drop the wife and get a new mod. I did that 3 years ago and I've never been happier. Lmao.

Looked at the IPV5's, looked at SMOK II, and Cuboid...............IPV5 cheap case (carry mine in pouch around neck...swing BAAANNG on wall..cry me a river broken mod) also heard lots bad about Pioneer and glitches, SMOK nice solid case, but pouch thing with that Loooonnng fire button=problems, Cuboid, solid case, 200 watts all the major wires, compact AND fits my case great and not apt to cause tears if banged around some.......
Went with Cuboid.........only complaint..........it DON'T like my Crown tanks. Due to the massive, squarish 510 pin (in itself a good thing) and not enough edge relief on top surface (only issue I've found so far) it and the crowns bottom pin don't like each other. Sometimes shows an atomizer short, sometimes causes TC to go wonky. But careful attachment, snug tighten a tad more than normal and all's good and it hits like a fiend every time and TC works great. A tank with adjustable bottom pin (or more protruding pin) no problems. I'm a moderate to heavy vaper and a set of 3000 mah 40 amp batteries I go thru 2 tanks...7-8 ml a day (sometimes more ) and still ticking......I'm happy.....

I don't do the max watts anyway, don't need it for the flavor. If I hit 80 w or higher I can't find the door by myself, everyone else helps me out by Throwing me out it!

IMO the ipv5 is very soild as far as the exterior goes, at least it feels that way. Very sturdy battery door and plenty of heft over all. The 510 is great too..
