real people who appreciate things that have been used and are still here after many years of graft will appreciate it, other people would prefer something powered that does the work. those people usually have beer guts and a low iq.Today, I took the sickle I restored as well as ice block tongs I restored, and donated them to our town's historical museum. They had no tongs, and the only sickle has a dry-rotted handle with tape wrapped around it. My donations may seem small, but are high quality and will last as long as the museum stands. As is, each item is already at least 53 years old. I hope people will appreciate such items the same way I do.
I was walked through the section of the museum where they intend to display what I brought. Most of the stuff is things I grew up with. Even the farming tractors were of the type that were used in the late 1960s and in the 1970s. They all still run and are used in parades. Some of the tools are ones I still use.real people who appreciate things that have been used and are still here after many years of graft will appreciate it, other people would prefer something powered that does the work. those people usually have beer guts and a low iq.
Still doing much better than before surgery. I get some pain in the hip and down that leg when the weather is about to change, but I expected that as I was already getting that. I can walk and stand for much longer than I could before. I'm just not dropping the weight I gained from sitting around during post-op recovery. How's your back doing @Lady Sarah? I know you had surgery a while back and just wondering how it doing.
I'm 250 miles north so I'm good, but I'm praying for those in LA and a quick containment.Just wanted to pop in and say I am praying that all my VU brothers and sisters are safe from the California wildfires.

Yep. Chickens on the shade to match the ones on the base. It was so nasty, I had to clean it up with acetone, and then spray lacquer on it to put a shine on it. Ain't no telling just how old this lamp actually is, but the switch ain't got the stupid warning about watt limits.Cool looking lamp, Sarah! I'm glad hubby brought it home to you, you are so good at refurbishing, repurposing and renewing stuff. Are those chickens on the lampshade?

Happy to hear you were well prepared & are safe & well!Hi, everyone!
Our wind gusts (60 - 80} finally took out the power and internet. Just got it back on, it was a very cold night!
I was very glad that I had the batteries all charged, coffee in the thermos, Kindles charged. I did a lot of reading, lol.
I hope everyone in the nasty weather areas are doing ok, I hope more people check in.
Hugs to all
