I am thinking about starting to build my own instead of using tanks. What do you guys/gals recommend for a noob...and RDA or RTA? Which ones are good? I have no idea how to build coils or anything but will research it (or pay someone to do it for me lol). I want mostly flavor but nice clouds would be good too....

Thanks in advance for replies...

I just started building myself. Snagged a coilmaster kit and love it. Also picked up their 521 tap and really like that to be able to fire right as I build.
Use the tsunami rda to build on and it's great for me. Love the two post design very easy to build on.

Well, RDAs can be easier, but dripping isn't always convenient.

Are you a m2l or d2l vaper? What is your budget? What mods do you have?

I have just gotten into the rda/rta addiction and it is amazing! After amassing way way way too many subohm tanks that are now all collecting dust, all I can say is do it!

The Alleria has amazing flavor and is very easy to build on. My first choice would be the Boreas though as it is perfection on all levels.

Hit up @raymo2u for some awesome coils to get you up and vaping while you begin to wrap your own.

I am more of a m2l vaper. I can swing about $100 to get started and pick up stuff again in a week. I have a Joyetech e-Vic VTC mini (75w), Wismec rx200, Cool Fire IV (40w), and a 50w Kangertech subox mini.

You have plenty of mods :)

m2l: Kayfun Mini v3, Eviva t, Rose v2, Pico (clone because an authentic is unobtanium), Tilemahos v2, Ataman 2, EHPro Mini Buddha, Gus Phenomenon Lite would all make nice RTAs.

Wow! Thank you for all the great info. I will research each and decide which is best for me! Really appreciate the help!

To continue Roxy's incomplete post,:) There are several RDA's that are also excellent for the mouth to lung style....My favorite is the Mutation X v4 as it has a sunken deck and doesnt leak, fully adjustable air flow AND It also can be set up for single or dual coils (excellent for beginners....Get it right on a one coil set up then step up too dual.)

30 bucks....

Stay away from clones here as they tend to be leaky....And start off with Kanthal 26 ga wire....Keep your first few builds above .8 ohms and make sure your batteries can handle the load.

Good luck!

So, for a set up like that I would need higher wattage? Is that what you mean by batteries handling the load? Would my rx200 work?

I had to leave it incomplete as I'm not an RDA expert :)

The rx can power anything.

But, you need quality batteries. 20A batteries up to 180W. For more than 180W, I would use vtc4s or a 30A LG battery like the HB6.

These are the batteries I have. I have 4 of each of the 2 kinds. They should work?

The Samsungs are one of my favorite batteries...I use them in everything. They will do just about everything and are one of the most versatile batteries for our needs.

The Samsungs are great. The yellow ones are NOT 35A batteries. They have untruthful, overinflated specs. There are no batteries with a CDR greater than 30A. Google Mooch's battery tests for actual info on them, and other batteries.
