Jon Favreau’s next live-action Disney film will be a remake of The Lion King.
The news comes via a tweet by Favreau, and was later officially confirmed by Disney.
The Lion King adds to Disney’s portfolio of live-action remakes, which include Maleficent, Cinderella, and the Favreau-directed The Jungle Book – the latter of which earned $965.8 million worldwide since its release. Suffice to say, people want more live-action Disney films. Especially Frozen
Disney also mentioned a sequel to The Jungle Book is in the works that will once again see Favreau at the helm.
But before The Lion King, comes the upcoming Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson as Belle, due for release March, 2017.
