DIY E-Liquid Nicotine Harshness?

Hey everyone, first post here and relatively new to the forum. Sorry in advance if something similar has been posted in the forum.

I'm currently making my own juice to hopefully start some small trial runs at a few local vape shops but my juice has a harsh hit to it which seems to disappear after 4-5 hits. The juice is a 70/30 VG/PG ratio at 3 mg of nic. I'm using VG/PG bought from ecigexpress and nicotine from xtremevaping. The nicotine is a 50MG/ML suspended in VG. I've let the juice steep for a week and it still seems to have that harshness that is concerning enough to where others have pointed it out as the first line of criticism for the juice.

Is this a matter of steeping longer? or has anyone had issues with xtremevapings nicotine?

Any thoughts is greatly appreciated!

Depends on the supplier. A few suppliers I have got nic from have been damned near flavorless and smooth.
Others were like swallowing a table spoon of ground pepper while licking a battery.

hahaha i thought it might be the nicotine but i didn't know if it was because it was suspended in VG, causing it to need more steeping time or something along those lines. I've heard that ecigexpress has good nicotine but i'm not entirely sure. Do you have any recommendations?

EDIT: I made a juice without the nicotine, it was beyond a shadow of a doubt that.

Nicotine in VG needs to be shaken very thoroughly - did you do that first? Many of use Vaperstek nicotine, which is extremely smooth.

I put my juice is 30 ml bottles after making a bigger 4-5 oz. batch. I shake vigorously for 5-10 mins and then let it sit. I open the cap to get some fresh air in and shake for 5 mins for every day after making it. I figured this will be enough but maybe not. I've heard of other steeping methods, such as the hot water trick but i didn't know if that would affect the flavor or not.

I meant shaking the nicotine before making the mix. Steeping isn't going to help with the harshness much!

Ahhhh i see, no i haven't. I honestly didn't even think about that. I'll try that and make a batch to see if it evens out the harshness. Worst case scenario i'll try Vaporstek's nicotine. Thanks a lot everyone! I'll keep everyone updated.

Heat steeping won't affect the taste or anything. A lot of people use a crock pot for this at 150 degrees. Good luck with your mix. I'll add my vote for Vaperstek.
