Been vaping about half a year with nautilus mini tanks and just recently bought the aspire triton subohm tank. I love the subohm experience and I could see just sticking with subohming except for the fact that instead of vaping 2-4 mil of liquid per day out of the nautilus minis, it looks like I could easily kill a 30mil bottle in just a few short days with this triton the way it rips through juice...

That said, buying 30mil bottles of pre-made liquid at an average of $15 each is gonna get quite pricey as compared to before. So, should I now look to mixing my own juices if I want to continue subohming? Looking at this through the perspective of cost-savings, I'm not sure of up-front costs, all I'd need, or what the average costs per month are for DIY liquids. Any help and input is appreciated, thanks!

On the high end, you're looking at 1$ per 10ml. So, obviously, $3 for 30. Plus, you're practically guaranteed to find plenty of mixes as good or better than vendor liquid. The ONLY vendor liquid I still buy is Boba's Bounty, since it's practically uncloneable.

Edit: up front costs... I'd say $100 should get you started. But, if you find that you like DIY, then you could go down the rabbit hole... Pick aa few highly regarded recipes in the recipe section that sound good to you, and start with them.

I've estimated a couple of my mixes to cost between $1 and $1.60 per 30 ml including plastic bottles and caps. The start up cost of DIY can be a touch expensive. All the measuring devices, containers and a variety of flavors. Once you have yeilded a liter or so of your own juice you have paid yourself back in savings a dozen times over, though. This from a guy who hasnt bought nearly any premade juice in just under a year. Hope this helps.

You're at the best DIY sub-forum I've ever seen! It's a lot of info, take notes, ask questions when you're not sure and none of them are dumb. It can seem over-whelming, but once you start, you'll wonder why you waited. Lots of fun, good juice, AWESOME people.

After spending just a short period of time on the DIY forum, reading and digesting all the information, I learned a lot. Including some tweaks you couldn't imagine would change your eJuice. I've started mixing my own creations, that might need minor tweaking, but they turn out well from the get go. Most importantly helping me honing those skills were reading @HeadInClouds "notes on...". Even though incomplete regarding all FA flavors, I did learn a lot and got some ideas from those.

I just ran a cost analysis this morning. I'm freaky with my money that way.

My cost are running me about $23 a liter. But I don't use a lot of different flavors. I keep a simple recipe list, and I'm happy.

I do tweak and experiment occasionally. But not often enough to matter to my wallet.

Start small, move slow.

how to start diy cheaply
1 find a few simple recipes hopefully with many of the same flavors
2. try to pic recipes with FA flavors - FA means Flavourart and their flavors are very realistic and concentrated - so a little goes a long way
3. save you juice bottles - wash them out
4. go here http://www.nudenicotine.com/product/nicotine-sample-request/
pay $2 shipping for 15ml of 100%vg 100mg nic - you can make about 240ml of juice at 6mg with this
5. go here http://www.bullcityvapor.com/ buy your flavors - buy vg and pg 120ml of each is only $2.50 use coupon code VU6 to save 6% off your order
6 go to the pharmacy and ask them for a few of thos syringes with ml marke don them they use for childrens meds. - put clear tape over them to help slow down the marks from wearing off
7. find an juice calculator like http://ejuice.breaktru.com/ its free and works

thats all you need to get started, depending on the number of flavors you buy you can do this for under $20

the hardest part is getting the flavors in the syringe without making a mess, but its doable

That's like $6.90 for 30ml. Most of my DIY eJuice is around $2.00 (just the liquids) for 120ml. You need to revisit your sources of VG, PG, Nicotine base, and flavors. Something seems way off.

If you keep your flavors at 10/30ml, you won't need a syringe using mixing by weight, due to the flavors having dripper tips. However, in order to get 1 ml, rule of thumb is that those thin-tipped bottles are about 60 drops, and the short stubby ones are about 33 drops. Capella bottles are around 42 drops.

One liter = 1000 ml / 30 ml = 33.3 bottles

If you do buy from Bull City, and they are the best to buy from IMHO, you can get a syringe w/ bulnt tip needle for a buck and it's far more accurate than drops but not as accurate as a scale. Go for it, you'll be glad you did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get the same #'s. I mix at 2mg. The cost goes up with your % of Nic. No muss, No fuss, No mess method.

My wife was giving me a hard time on my upfront costs, until I reminded her that we were spending around $13 a day on smokes between us just a couple months ago. I now have 30+ flavors of varying sizes in my little library, and once she saw how far the flavors go while mixing, nary a peep on my weekly packages :)
