Been looking into trying out making my own ejuice as a fun hobby! I've been doing the math on what I'd like to use. Wanting to measure by volume not weight but with several brands out there I want a nice but cheap kit. Looking at a max of 30-40$.

Not looking for nicotine

Kits are usually not the best/cheapest way to go. You will get stuff you don't need. Best way to go is pick out a few recipes from our recipe sub-forum and just buy the flavors to mix those. Get pg/vg, syringes, and bottles if you need them. You can wash out any bottles you may already have and just use those. Just mix in the bottles, no need for beakers or test tubes.

A mixing calculator is a must have. e-liquidrecipes.com is free and works on any computer/phone/tablet, and they have tons of recipes as well. For windows pc http://ejuice.breaktru.com/ works good and is free.

Also read, read, then read some more. Lots of good info here in the DIY forum and lots of folks here to help.

If you are in the US here are some places to get everything you need:

ecigexpress.com coupon code underground10 for 10% off
bullcityflavors.com coupon code VU6 for 6% off
nicotineriver.com no coupon code except during sales, but good prices.

There are others, those are the three I use.

Buying the gear (syringes, pipettes, bottles, etc..) from a lab equipment supplier, rather then a vaping shop will help you cut down costs.

Also if you intend to get flavors from several brands it's better to get them all from one supplier that carries them all rather then from the manufacturers.

I'll look into that. Thanks so much

Also consider if you intend to single use or reuse your measurement tools.
For reuse syringes are better and for single use disposable pipettes are cheaper.
There are two recommended measurement options, either by volume using syringes, pipettes, etc.. or by weight using a scale.

I plan on using syringes.

Not telling you what to do but the easiest and cleanest way would be by weight.
Scale

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005...chen+Scale&dpPl=1&dpID=41M3TE8qG8L&ref=plSrch

Bottles for PG and VG
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01E...+with+caps&dpPl=1&dpID=31eyNW3xYrL&ref=plSrch

Poor in your flavor and your done... no clean up.

I've thought about using a scale but honestly I'm doing it more as a hobby so I don't mind the extra work :)

No problem that's how I started but it morphed into making juice with 8+ flavors and it got to be a chore. Just giving you a heads up.
One last thing VG in a syringe is a pain because it's so thick..... get a BIG one.

I picked up some 5& 10mls as I'm only making 10 ml batches to start. Got them without needles. Does that sound right?

Yeah I started with syringes too. Had I known then what I know now, never woulda started with syringes. Cannot think of one negative to measuring by weight instead of syringes.
Quicker
Easier
More accurate
Less clean up

Some flavors need less than 1/4 of a % (0.25%). Near impossible to be accurate with a 1ml syringe in a 30ml bottle. And, making 10 ml bottles, even getting an accurate 1% would be extremely unlikely with syringes.

Syringes "lock up" from certain flavors. Especially the ones flagged as "not safe for plastic tanks." More syringes, more $$$, more headache.

No cross contamination with mixing by weight.

I, personally, would get 30 ml bottles. Can make 10 ml of juice in a 30ml bottle. Bought some 10 ml when I started. They are now collecting dust and wishing they were 30ml bottles.

And, unless you have a reason to need needle tips, I would stay away from them. I use 80% vg juice and would have a hernia trying to fill an atty with them. Slow going.

In my opinion the best DIY Starter to to buy is the Liquid Barn Starter Kit because there is not one thing you will never use except maybe the complimentary mixing mat. Enough supplies for 1,400 ML's of e-Liquid so you just might want to order some bottles when you get started.

For your VG and PG they should be fine you may need a 1 ml for your flavors though. A lot of times flavors will be 1% or less.

Yeah when I first started doing DIY I thought 15ML bottles will be perfect and then I had 2 bottles of each flavor I mixed. Now I am mixing 60ML bottles 3 at a time. The journey is as much fun as that first successful bottle of Shake and Vape.

Who's flavors are you talking about? When it come to taste I am sure you have heard it is subjective and many times what one considers wonderful someone else considers sewage.

Really depends on your tastes.

I like fruit flavors, so FA is my go to brand. With inawera a close second.

But if you like heavier custards and pastries, then I have limited experience.

What kind of flavors are you into?

Few that I really like and are versitile:
FA forest fruit
FA marshmallow
FA fuji
FA kiwi
Inw strawberry shisha
Inw vanilla shisha
Inw cactus

But like I said, more into fruits. Will add some creams or FA custard for a little creaminess, but not a custard expert by any means.

I have a lot of custards and creams already picked out. Right now I'm going for more fruits. Looking for recipes right now. Can't really find any that I have to try.

What flavors do you guys use the most?

I have only been mixing for about a year and have made around 15 to 20 recipes and the one on the top of my list is....

"Sully's Sweet Berry Mash (All FA)
2.5% Forest Fruit
2.5% Strawberry
0.5% Oba Oba
0.5% Marshmallow
0.5% Marzipan
0.5% Fresh Cream

The 3 sweet flavor additions really help fix the 'dry' effect you get with FA fruits at higher power and the cream helps smooth it all out. I think this one is very, very good! If you don't have Oba Oba you can prob get away with doubling the marshmallow. Try it! Let me know what you think."

I'm was a custard dessert, tobacco mix guy till this opened my eyes.... it is really that good!

Does anybody know if this is a good way to DIY? It seems so easy. I'd appreciate any input and/or opinions.
