with your mouth wide open after just filling an RDA. It will result in flying boiling hot liquid onto your tongue leaving you regretting the decision for a good couple days. I seem to never learn my lesson and always seem to get too much juice on the coils by accident.

Ban you for saying oil!!

Oh wait, wrong thead.
Immediate edit. My apologies, had the burning hot image of oil crackling off a frying pan and my fingers moved faster than my head. Great catch!

Or, perhaps a training tip. ;)
I have never heard of a training tip before, is this something along the lines of a barrier to catch crackling juice in the tip? Also I feel like pavlovs theory of conditioning would have taken effect by now and should work much better than anything, but seems that it hasn't. Might just be a lost cause.

Thats why ill keep the tip off and blow on the wick as i fire it a few times. I did it once, and wow...Never again. Its burned in my brain now. And dry hits are the worst thing. I do everything in my power to prevent those now! lol

Haha, my attitude exactly. I get some evil spitback on my first hits after refill and never learn. I never learn. Ever. But I haven't gotten the bacon-fry effect with my setup (knock on wood).

I tend to use thinner bore drip tips, so I have only ever mostly encountered minor spitback-a little annoying, but never enough to burn.

I DID burn my mouth slightly once when I was getting into TC, using TI, and I was happily vaping away, then WHOOSH, it set fire, only for a split second though.

Still not 100% what caused that, but I think the coil may of touched some metal inside the tank, as there was not much space in there, I learnt my lesson though from that one regarding room for coils.

My el-cabron and twisted messes with wide bore do give more spitback, and I take deep inhales, but it has never lasted for few days. That must hurt :(

Oddly enough I've never had any problems with hot juice or a hot drip tip burning my lips or mouth

This delrin chuff cap on the Dark horse never gets hot..my favorite for cloud chasing at 80w+...

A tip for using the wide bore on the twisted messes. I cut out a circle of steel mesh and glued it to the underside of the top cap. Just make sure the mesh is big enough not to restrict the airflow. I will admit it does make a bit of a whistle when you inhale hard but I would rather have that than a burnt tongue

Something to be said for not using those toaster ovens with multiple coils and less than an inch of distance between them and your mouth! I have only experience some spitting with my Nautilus Mini due to an over priming of a new Atomizer.

the thing i do after a big heavy drip, is do a quick pulse. this seems to absorb the juice into the cotton and coil (i drip really high VG). it then prevents the juice that is sitting on top of the coil from spitting off.

That is and isn't the issue though. Using coils like that you need to ensure the wick is fairly saturate to avoid dry hits. Sometimes, there is excessive juice on the coil and it gets zapped up real quick, nearly combustion and expulsion. The heat expels excess the only way it understands, heat rises ergo you get pops in the mouth. Yes in one aspect it is from using coils like that. From another aspect, I have had the same happen using stock replaceable heads in evod style tanks. So it is not exactly the coil at fault all the time, nor is it always the juice in excess at fault. It is one of those things that is thing because it can be a thing ... crap happens.

I found some brass screen cut for another use & put in inside my big bore drip tips also. Works great. :shades:

Just toasting an atomizer is my Nautilus Mini is nasty and I can only imagine what flaming the amount of wick in a larger RDA is like!

I upgraded from an Evod to a drip box starter kit from Kangertech and it almost took my front teeth out first time I pushed the button. Do any of you know of an attachment I can fit to the top of the mouthpiece that'll put some distance between my gob and the coil and has a smaller aperture so its not like sucking on a car exhaust pipe?.

Cheers Whiskey. I think a few beers last night really helped to!. I found the best place to get the right juice to.

Its in the states and its called "Naturally extracted tobacco LLC" www.naturally-extracted-tobacco.com I and a few folk at work have come up with blending thier smoked leaf juice with the Turkish tobacco and another one.....argh I cant remember its name:crazy: to get the closest I've ever had to smoking a real cigarrette. It comes from Iowa and takes ages to get to the UK and postage is extortionate but its worth it.

The dripbox 160 comes with a spitback stopper. It works great but mutes flavor. Its always a give and take.

oil? lol yup first day with my rda i burned my mouth. i learned after dripping to burn off a little and blow on the rda, that methode works for me, probably wasting juice but would rather have a burn free mouth. r u using castor oil with ur rda?
