Marvel Studios' latest film—whose domestic debut last week eclipsed the opening weekends of Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Ant-Man—has currently earned a grand total of $153 million in North America.
Meanwhile, Paramount's critically acclaimed sci-fi film Arrival debuted in third place, just behind Trolls, which held strong in second with $35.1 million. As noted by Variety, the Amy Adams-led movie from director Denis Villeneuve (Sicaro, Prisoners) was expected to make just $16 million during its opening weekend, but exceeded expectations with an opening haul of $24 million.
