NBER working paper by Noah Arman Kouchekinia, David Neumark, and Tim A. Bruckner using HRS data and local labor-demand shocks to estimate how employment affects cognitive decline. The paper finds that negative labor-demand shocks are associated with lower cognitive scores over time, with effects concentrated among men ages 51–64. [nber.org]
