I've mixed with RY4 and am very familiar with its rich, tobacco-like aroma. Love it....
I recently got my first bottle of RY4 Double and it's the complete opposite. It's clear, as opposed to its weaker counterpart, and I realize not all flavorings have color, but it's also strange to me that it has hardly any smell at all. Matter of fact, I shook the crap out of the bottle more than once, thinking something had maybe settled in the bottom during shipping. It could virtually be water in that bottle for appearance and aroma.
Is this normal? It's Signature brand from ECig Express.

I just looked at my bottle of RY4 Double from TFA and it has a very slight yellow/tan tint. It smells very faint tobacco smell. I don't like tobacco and got this for friends, what % and other information you will have, when you make juice from it, I would like to see posted here.

Checked my bottle from ECX bought about two weeks ago and it has that distinct smell. Can't see the color because it's in an amber bottle with the orange cap.

I made a recipe from the forum, a tribeca clone that belongs to AmandaD. 10% RY4 Double, 1% AP....made 10ml

When I used it today, it was clear. No odor. I've had it for a couple of weeks I guess, just didn't open it till today.

Half my comment disappeared up there, sorry....I made 10ml, 50/50, 100mg nic base at 18%, 10% RY4 double, 1% AP.

If it doesn't have that smell, something's wrong. I just opened mine about three days ago. I'm liking it more than I thought I would.

That's what I was thinking, regular RY4 has a pretty distinct aroma and RY4 Double is supposed to be stronger. I assumed the fragrance would be stronger too, but mine seems to be nonexistent. Hmm....

There is definitely something wrong. It should be light amber and smell like heaven. Ecx is really good about replacing a bad product. When you're logged into their site, just make a ticket.

Just turned in a ticket.....perhaps this is why it was on sale....lol!

Late to the party, but I echo RocketPuppy's comment on the color and smell.

Though not a regular user of RY4 double, I have some. Captain and Desert Ship are my currently most used tobaccos.

Not my recipe - but I make it all the time! (The original recipe was posted over at ECF years ago) MIne's also light amber and smells actually a bit like plastic (I wonder if I've had it too long). But it tastes great!

I actually went to the ECX site specifically for that flavor, seemed I saw so many recipes here that I wanted to try that used it. Just so happened they were having a huge sale and I ended up with six bottles of tobacco flavors. My favorite of them was an Inawera Cappuccino tobacco that I could DRINK, it's just awesome! And I got a chocolate tobacco that's pretty amazing, got it to work on a clone of Pitbull's Brindle that has stumped me for weeks. Not like I'm out a whole lot of money on the RY4, but it does make me wonder why I got an "albino" version.

Sounds like the bottle wasn't properly shaken before it was poured at ECX. You did shake the heck out of it right? (I've made that mistake before!)

Oh yeah. Held it up to the lamp to make sure there was nothing stuck to the bottom (Amber bottle, couldn't see for sure), and even took a pipette and stirred around in there. Nuttin'.....

Well, ECX emailed me and said all the RY4 Doubles were like that and told me to vape it and see if the flavor was there. Guess I'll flash steep tomorrow....

They're full of it. I recently got an order from them for it since it was so inexpensive, and it was light amber/wonderful smell. ECX has a representative here, but I forgot the name. I'd make a complaint if they don't replace it.

Put a drop on your finger - you don't have to vape it to see if it's good!

Oh, I'll steep it and try it first but you know as well as I do it's gonna taste like trash. I'll complain then, for sure. I couldn't care less for my $1.54 back, I want my bottle. ;)

I agree with everyone else, I just got a 4 oz bottle from TFA this week (my second one) and it is amber and has a great smell. If yours is clear and no aroma then something is very wrong.

I think I'll just stick with FA and TFA/TPA from now on. But Signature is made by one of the better brands, isn't it?

Signature is TPA re-branded from what I understand. I usually purchase 4 oz of a couple flavors through TPA direct or One Stop DYI shop

Signature is the label ECX puts on TFA! Taste it!

I have to admit, it looks like water but it tastes rich, sweet, and very "tobacco-y".....how strange is that?

Well, now come the vape test, maybe they have change the formula

Can't say as I understand it, it has no smell whatsoever, and I just took a whiff of the juice I made with it today and all I smell is the AP. They've certainly changed something.
But the real test is in the vape. ;)

Even without giving it time, you should be able to tell if it's indeed ry4. I'll email Linda to see if they sent out a clear version to ecx.

Straight from the bottle it does indeed taste like RY4, highly concentrated. But to look at it, pure water.

Hey everyone :)

Quite frequently TFA changes their recipes/formulas on their product. This may be what has happened. I will be investigating further to be sure it is not a mistake on our end (because of the taste test) - although I am confident that this "recipe change" is the case. We've had multiple brands switch from clear to colored & vice-versa.

I can confirm that all of our RY4 Double - both bottled & sealed from TFA, is a light tan color - not clear. @Teresa P have you extracted all of your liquid from the bottle to examine the color? Or have you only examined the liquid in a droplet form?

If your liquid is completely clear, there is most certainly a mistake.

I've extracted the 1ml to make the one bottle of juice with a pipette, so it's gone down pretty far in the bottle. Then I dripped one drop onto my hand to taste, both after some very healthy shakes. It's clear alright. But, as I'd said last night, the flavor is there. the aroma and color are not, but the flavor is very potent, much to my surprise.

So strange...

If you're saying it's crystal clear, and it does NOT have a slight brown tint to it, then something is off.

How long have you had this bottle of flavoring?
Does it have a red cap?

This flavor is very popular, and we pour it frequently; so if you purchased this bottle recently then there is no way that it's old enough product to be a different recipe from TFA. To my knowledge, this is the first occurrence of an issue like this.

Got it exactly a week ago, and it does have a red cap. According to the bottle, the batch# is 183670.

That batch number identically matches all of our RY4 Double in the warehouse right now.

You have extracted ALL of the liquid into one container that is clear in order to optimally view the color?

Wow....that came out larger than I thought it would....lol! And it would look more clear if the background images weren't dark.

I don't know if it's the background images or not, but it seems to have the brown tint that it's supposed to have. Can you perhaps take another photo with a different backdrop?

Not picking sides, but both pictures look like the flavor has a tint to it, like mine.

Perhaps it's because I'm comparing it to my RY4, which is as dark as coffee. Like I said, the flavor is there, that's very strong. Just no aroma and color, and my regular RY4 is just the opposite. This is my first bottle of double and it's also from a different manufacturer.
Long as it tastes good and it won't kill me, I'm happy. :D
