I spent around $13K to build it, my mom lived in it for 21 years and we sold it recently for $50K. Not too bad in my opinion
Wife's granddad (PawPaw2) helped our neighbor T -- build their two story farm house. He said there was only around $2,500 in it, material wise. Hard to tell how much of a labor cost it would have been if outside contractors did it. T -- now owns an electrical supply company, half of it anyway. His wife sold an old feed store in town. He had bought it for her. The guy is likely now running in the millions. PawPaw2 knew T -- could get around $150,000 out of the home up there. He has two barns, the house, land and livestock, only improved a little on the house since it was built, I think they poured a slab porch on one side.
Went thru everything with my sis passing away only to have my hernia's kick my ass last couple days. Tonight is the first time I was able to eat anything solid in the last 48 hours.
That gives me a clue then. Father in law has been having trouble swallowing to eat. I might want to mention he oughta ask the docs about hernias. Did not think of that. Thought of the stress he's facing with the other son in law.
He's got a conveyor up yon to set up a way to pile firewood, instead of us old fogies needing to bend and rick. He's got some tables, old supermarket display carts, he's wanting to set up a swivel for a chain saw. Push logs over with conveyor let someone lift saw, set it down and cut 17" logs each time, then get a load up to split, run the conveyor over to pile. I can halfway see what he's got going on in his head.
He thought the other son would be of help though, matter of fact kind of expected it. We know how that goes. So that's a pain in his ass. Then, every time he wants to come over and round me up to help, well, look out. Know that song too.
Her dad has told me that if his other son in law doesn't help do firewood this year, all that wood can lay to rot. He'll have a guy deliver a couple pickup loads already cut, knows a guy who has a boy in FFA and is cutting wood as a business for that. I think it'd be a shame because he's paid some good money and worked out some precarious horse trading to get equipment, logs.
Here it seems I've run out on life's troubles yet again. Stepdad was an ahole, I go away. Her bro in law an ahole, we go away. Shameful keeping the peace doesn't help get shit done but it's always the only choice I'm left to take. Ah well, I better get coffee and go look at the political silliness, then go piddle. Hm, yep might need to eat as well.
