I'm building a mech mod. I found this efest battery on eBay for $5. I ordered it. I'm not planning on sub-ohming right now, and if I ever sub-ohm which I'm not seeing a personal need for, it will be with a regulated mod. I vape 4 or 5 times a day usually. It's an IMR battery, rated at 30 amps. Some misinformed people on a Facebook group that I unfortunately belong to, though not for much longer, have said I should not use an efest because they are fakes. I went on efest website, and they have listed which batteries were copied. The battery I bought was not on my list. So I decided to post here to get some honest and hopefully better informed opinions. Is the efest OK to use? Will it last 4 or 5 vapes at 1 ohm? Maybe more?

I'm not sure if efest ever rewraped the Sony VTC3. The mAh and amp ratings match that battery.

Others may have more experience with it and could probably tell you more.

This is why I tend to steer people away from non OEM cells, it can be difficult to identify what cell a branded battery really is, or if it's a generic Chinese cell.

I'd it is a VTC3, they're very good batteries.

I was given a charger, but not sure if it is li-ion or nimh. The efest battery can only be used with li-ion charger.

It doesn't say on the charger which type it is, but I googled 18650 li-ion charger and went to images, saw many pictures that looked exactly like my charger and when I clicked on the links, the description always said li-ion charger so I think it's safe to assume this is the correct type of charger.

It's not a rewrapped VTC3 and it is inferior to the VTC3. It's not a bad battery though. I'd call it a 20A battery. So yeah 1 ohm would be easy for it. Speaking of, I have a bunch of older stock of those I need to put on clearance or something.

As for the charger, it should say on it what kind of output it is? Usually there's a label where it talks about input power and stuff, it should list what it's compatible with. If it's too cheap to even do that....I wouldn't use it. Sounds like it doesn't even have a brand name? Cheap chargers are how you set batteries on fire and are a place I wouldn't skimp. Not to mention the possibility that it's not compatible with li-ion, that's very dangerous if it's the case so be 100% sure before trying it.

The brand name on the charger is "made in china". Here is what I did. I went and googled " 18650 charger" and pulled up images that looked like my charger (exactly alike, down to the silver 18650 sticker on them) and every single charger that looked like mine was a li-ion charger.

Here is what I can do. Put the battery on the charger and monitor it closely for awhile to see if it gets extremely hot. If it gets super hot, I'll take it off the charger right away. Can't afford a charger or an ohm checker for at least a few weeks. As it is, I'm gonna have to build coils at my local shop and have them read them for me.

I can tell you what it does say on the charger, but idk if that will tell you anything:

Input: AC 100V-240V 50/60Hz
Max 150mA
Output: DC 4.2v 650mah

That at least says it's a li-ion charger, since it's 4.2V output.

I'd definitely upgrade your charger as soon as you can but it does sound like it will at least work. I just wouldn't leave it unattended if you can help it.

I'm definitely trying to be as safe as possible with this generic charger. I pulled out my multimeter and tested for continuity. Both bays check out solid. I'll be home and awake the first time I go to charge, so I'll keep an eye on it and check the batteries by hand probably every few minutes till I know they are OK. If the can get through a full charge without overheating, I'll feel safe leaving them to charge overnight.
