@InMyImage OOH! I feel your wife's pain I had my gallbladder taken out 3 years ago but mine was a same day emergency operation.I thought I was having acid reflux (heartburn pain) but the pain was like a an ice pick jabbed into me from front right side to the back. I went to the hospital and they did a sonogram and aid oh we have to operate today. I had three golfball size gall stones taken out.
Glad that they got you in time. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that it could have ruptured and caused all kinds of other problems.
My mother's family has some genetic issue that causes their gallbladders to stop functioning correctly and all of the women in her family (4) have had theirs removed and it's something that my doctors know needs to be paid attention to because of it.
Shelly was convinced that it was just heartburn but went to the ER 2 weeks ago with problems and had to have IV fluids, then weekend before this past one went to urgent care where they said she might have an ulcer, then last night started having all the pain around the front of her rib cage to wake up to being full circle.
The ultrasound did not show any stones, just the "sludge" so she got put on a bland diet and Prilosec and nausea pills along with Norco until she sees the surgeon on Tuesday.
Another great year of medical problems for the family appears to be in store... she already knows she has to have some scar tissue removed from her left elbow in the next couple of months SMH!
