Evic vt software

I have been considering buying the evic vt as my back up to my sx mini m class. And the one question that has not been discussed is if the evic vt is able to be updated to different soft/firmware in the future. I posed this question to joyetech and they said that it is not. That is one downfall to the device that kinda makes me not want to buy it. Most devices are updatable these days but a few recent ones like the invader mini and the evic are not, not too sure why. The invader I can kinda understand due to the ipx4 water resistance. What are your thoughts?

Well, look at it this way. If you just want the VT as a back up..you can get it for right about 1/3 of the price of an M Class. You can't expect a $60 mod to do everything a $190 mod does. Even with clones, that rarely works out. Many of the devices that "say" they are upgradable (especially on the lower end) never seem to pan out. For just a back up...I'd say the VT would be a solid little mod.

I agree with the above. For a 60 dollar device you have to have realistic expectations on the pros and cons. I mean even the SX has its plus and minuses. So if the VT lasts a year you get your moneys worth and buy the new tech when it dies. jmo.

That is true. I was posing this question not only to use as a back up but also as my work mod, I drive semi, cause I don't like to take my sx as that is a expensive piece of equipment. But there is not enough people that have them to report any bug in the system

Well, the initial reviews including all the biggies (pbusardo, grimmgreen, twisted420 and a few others) have all been very positive. That's the risk on jumping on something brand new. Every mod is gonna have it's quirks. As FC said above, $60 beats the hell outta $180 to have as a daily driver mod. Hell you could buy one in all 3 colors for 1 SX M class and I would give you odds that they would last you at least a year.

So that makes the SX the back up. I have a similar issue the Heatvape Invader mini I bought to drag to work is seeing a fair share of action while the SX is babied.

If it was me I would roll the dice on the VT and see how it plays out. Initial reviews are positive so unless they start glitching or dying they should last for a bit. Of course if you are in no hurry then yeah wait and see.

Ok so I went ahead and picked up one and set it to pretty much the same settings temp at 430 and wattage at 34 using my subtank plus (even though I got the matching tank) and tried it. Not bad just weak, tried it all the way up to 600 degrees and it was still weak as compared to my sx. Thought well it could be because joyetech makes their nickle coils at .2 so I juiced up the tank and nickle head it came with and vaped. Decent flavor but still weak, so I ramped it up to max (not all at once rather working my way up) with the same results. So I let the tank cool for about 20 minutes and installed it on my sx and good flavor and vapor, close to what I am used too. Did the same with my sub tank and once again huge difference. Unless I'm doing something wrong the evic is hitting like a q-tipp compared to the sx. The sx was set to standard mode at 420 degrees and 22 joules and was never changed during this time. I a little disappointed, so if anyone can help me I'm all ears

I picked one of these up about a week ago and had the same problem until I locked the Ωs. From what I understand, the temp control function doesn't work until you do that....and I think that's correct - big difference in flavor & vapor.

Easy to set up; Hit the power button three times go into "Menu" mode, then scroll down to the "atomizer" line (move the top switch to the left three times), and then move the switch to the right....the LOCK icon should appear to the right of the atomizer line, hit the power button again to lock the setting in and you are good-to-go. It's actually pretty easy - it sounds more difficult to do than it actually is. You just have to get used to the way the menu system works. Make sure you do this with a cold coil.

It also took about half a tank before the flavors really opened up the first time I started playing with it. My current settings are 480 Degrees, 40 Watts, with a .13 Ω Ni head. I vape almost 100% VG and so far, nice smooth flavor with NO dry hits at all.

IMPORTANT: make sure that the coil type matches your coil material (first line should be Ni for Nickel heads, Ti for Titanium heads, and POWER for Kanthal (no Temp Control with Kanthal). I made the mistake of accidentally switching mine to Ti with Nickel heads and it tasted terrible!

BTW; I'm using a Kanger Sub-Ohm tank with OCC Ni 200 heads, and the difference between running Kanthal heads on a regular MOD and the VT are night and day.

Good luck...

Your running the same setup as I, and I have locked the resistance before I even fire for the first time. Think it's just me getting used to it more than anything cause I was able to lower the temp after a while
