Ti oxidizes, Any Ti wire is going to leave a film when run through your fingers. As soon as Ti see's oxygen it begins to oxidize.

When you got dry hits were you in temp mode? It doesn't protect in wattage mode.
when i run the spider silk cleaned Ti through my fingers i get nothing. with the unkamen stuff... i get crazy dirt on my fingers. its like pulling pencil lead through my fingers. this is absolutely machine oil from it being produced and never cleaned.
simply looking at the wire its brown/gold. it does not resemble the silver shine of the cleaned Ti.
its def dirty and users will need to remove the machine oils before vaping with it. unlike some of the other options out there.
I understand that theory. But straight out of the container the spider silk was black and dirty. My other titanium was clean and silver.
They must have missed mine. Please, let me know how the unkamen ti works for you. Since riogrande.com doesnt carry 26g, I would like an alternative place to purchase it.

Can't it's being sent back to Vape NW. No ti was in temp protect mode. It only happened when the wattage was at approx. 50-55w and in the upper 500s for temp. As someone said before, maybe it was the juice burning, but something was definitely burning.
FWIW, they missed mine too. My Spider Silk definitely requires cleaning between the package and the build. I have some of the Unkamen Ti, but I haven't built with it yet. It is Ti colored wire in the packaging.
If you had the temp set in the upper 500s ... could well have been cotton burning. At that temperature, if you get ahead of your wicking (meaning your wicking can't keep up with the rate your vaporizing juice) - the cotton will burn.
well maybe its something new? cuz take a look at mine. and please disregard the shit pic. i took it very quick. just know that the entire 15ft looks like the shiny few strands you see on the bottom there. my batch definately does not need to be cleaned. and part of the marketing is that is has been specialty cleaned. the wire in the pic above has NOT been specialty cleaned.
At least I now know its not Envycig's personal vendetta against me lol. You have the colored ti? The rainbow anodized?

I got my Spider Silk today. Wasn't blatantly dirty, and i had to go in a better lit room to really notice, but there was certainly black residue marks when i wiped around it a few times with a paper towel.
So what do i do to clean it anyway, boil it in water or something?
I'd just wipe it off with hot soapy water (that's how we used to clean silver wire)!

We have had this looked into and our engineer has contacted Joyetech about it, the following has been said:
We haven’t checked the capacity of the 3 cell block, But Joyetech Shenzhen have. If they believe they are getting a charge capacity of 5000 mAh out of the combined pack, it will be because they have tested it at that. If the 1500 mAh quoted on the individual cells within the battery pack is conservative (which is quite likely) this would explain the additional capacity quoted for the combined cell. Combining cells as an integrated pack is totally standard industry practice, and has been used by computer manufacturers for many years.
As for the cells needing balancing, this is just not true. The three cells are in parallel connection, and so will always be at the same voltage as one another. No standard we know of asked for any special monitoring or balancing for single parallel cell blocks.
Finally, some seem concerned that the cells are LiPo. I don’t know of many instances of devices where anything other than LiPo is used in an integrated battery. They are the most efficient battery type available for such devices.
We work closely with Joyetech to ensure everything is as it should be, and in this instance is seems to be a case of misinformation on the video posters side and is nothing that should have caused a problem.

Me too. The Evic has been the best tc mod I've owned and I've had all the popular ones. My next one is the ipv3 Li well see if that beats the he evic but I doubt it.

i can appreciate this. in fact i will not be purchasing anymore spider silk because of this. BUT i think you may have jumped the gun on calling the Evic junk. sure yours was a lemon, but to say that these are all junk so early after the release seems unwarranted.
btw... where is the Evic junk thread at anyway?

They moved it to the "mud pit?" because I got into an argument with a couple fanboys. I hope your right and I jumped the gun.I'd honestly hate for people to get screwed over again like they have with other devices. I also saw all these same reactions when people first started having problems with the ipv4: "mine's fine" "you must had screwed it up" etc. etc. Time will tell I guess.

Been a fan of the 3mm coiling lately.
Is .3 an ideal Ti range i should be shooting for though? Trying to do some thread diving now. Could of swore i saw somebody post Joytech's recommended specs the other day (which i failed to find on a quick look on their site)
The fire in Pbusadro's review gave me some pause too.

Mine does it FREQUENTLY ... I have a little series of steps I go through to get it to stay in Temp Control, but I sometimes have to fight to get it to accept what I'm telling it. I'm not having problems with a Kayfun. Rather, this is my Billow V2 with a Ti dual coil build. I don't use the Evic in Wattage mode, so after the first time it choked the hell out of me ... I dropped the wattage setting to 30 to avoid flame outs. But losing my setting on the motorcycle is a PISSER 'cause the procedure to get Temp to stick again involves unscrewing tank, mode change, coil unlock, power off, power on, screw tank back on, several short (less than 1 sec) pulses, verify I'm still in temp control, 3 clicks, jog, jog, relock atomizer, several more short pulses verifying temp control has stuck, then and only then hit and verify I'm still in TC. This means I have to pull off of the road into a parking lot just so I can get the vape I'm asking for.
I was really hoping P. B. would come up with a fix for this truly annoying phenomenon. As some of y'all know I had this on order in all three colors at one point. This failure to do what I'm telling it to do is WHY I have not ordered the rest of the set. If Yihi releases a firmware update for the sx350j to do Ti before Joyetech releases firmware 1.19 to fix this problem ... Yihi will get my next mod spend funds (I realize I can do Ti on the sx350j by faking out the temp setting, but I want easier).
