Archimonde the Defiler was the left hand of the fallen titan Sargeras. Wielding both physical strength and near-limitless dark magics, the campaign of Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaosfocuses on his attempts to invade the world of Azeroth after ten thousand years of scheming.
While officially acknowledging Sargeras’ dominance, Archimonde longed to rise up and overthrow his master. The climax of Warcraft 3 sees him launch a massive attack on the World Tree, Nordrassil, in a bid to drain its energies and become unstoppable. An alliance of Night Elves, Orcs, Humans and Trolls rallied to challenge him on the slopes of Mount Hyjal, culminating in thousands of wisps swarming around the demon and detonating, obliterating him entirely.
