EA and Codemasters have had to temporarily remove ray tracing from the PS5 version of F1 2021 due to stability issues.

Revealed in the v1.04 patch notes, ray tracing has been causing instability for a “limited number” of PlayStation 5 players.

“We are aware of some instability within the game for a limited number of users on PS5 relating to Ray Tracing,” explained the patch notes. “As such, we have taken the difficult decision to temporarily disable it to aid stability. We aim to re-enable this as quickly as possible, and we will provide an update in due course.”

Alongside this change, an issue for all platforms has been addressed in which saves would corrupt if a vehicles livery was edited from within MyTeam HQ. This fix will make corrupted saves playable.

F1 2021 released recently to a solid review from IGN. It’s the fist of Codemaster’s games after its acquisition by EA. Since that acquisition, Codemaster’s leadership has left the company.
