would there be any intrest in someone buying a gift certificate from fast tech? I made a mistake in a refund and asked for a gift certificate instead. not sure how to go about a sale of it or where to post this . I am also unsure how to prove that it is there without giving the code away the GC is for 58 dollars and some change would sell for 50

Well, for starters, how much is the GC good for and what are you asking for it?

I do think 50 for a 58.00 gift cert is rather high.. o_O

?? to pay 50.00 on a 58.00 gift certificate.. seems there is a 8.00 freebie.. for 50.00??
I don't know.. maybe it is my math.. but.. for the value.. there are other things I could buy, at half price value.

you might just have to spend that cert.. unless someone else can tell me my math is off..

well 10% of 50 is 5 so he is right that it is greater then 10% but some random dude showing up asking for 50 bucks isnt going to win friends here

I have a few concerns with this that go beyond the OP's relative lack of community reputation and what other people seem to think about his asking price...

How do we know whether FT will transfer the gift cert? What if you give someone a code, it's legitimate, and they try to plug it in only to find out that only you can use it? Or that the goods have to ship to you? It might help to do a little research and have a clearly defined plan on how exactly you're going to be capable of transferring the funds rather than saying that you don't know "how to go about a sale" or "how to prove that it is there."

There's also the "proof of life" requirement (or whatever it's called), wherein VU members have to post up proving that they actually own an item they're looking to sell, before they attempt to sell it.

Not a knock on you, @cantwinanything, just trying to bring to light some problems that, by solving, might help you find someone willing to make an offer on your FT credit balance...

Don't take this the wrong way, but you are an unknown person, with a gift certificate code that may or may not work, and you are asking a fair amount of money for it.

I'm not saying you would do this, but it is a recipe for a pretty easy scam, so yes, people are going to question you.

Honestly, you might do better trying to sell this somewhere that you are better known and have friends that can vouch for you as a legitimate and honest seller.

If you do wish to try and sell it here, then some things need to be figured out, like how to sell something without a picture, how someone else would redeem said code (since it seems it has to be used under your login info), and probably a slew of other things that I haven't even thought of. If all of this can be worked through, and you are successful in finding a buyer, then you are on your way to being better known here, which can only help any future sales you may offer.

HTH!

We don't delete accounts unless it's very unusual circumstances, same goes with closing threads.A new member coming in trying to sell or barter items naturally will get a lot of questions and comments, you may have wanted to get to know our community and members here a bit before trying to sell your gift certificate as soon as you joined. Good luck

I am not mad at you, I am protecting myself (at least) by questioning what you have posted.

You offered to sell a gift certificate from Fasttech, not me! :)

As with many things.. the value you place on something, may not be the value I place on the same item.
I was told the other day.. the art of bargaining is lost.. there is no haggling, dickering etc..

I asked if your gift certificate was transferable, as I have never ever! heard of a Fasttech gift certificate being transferable.
Don't think I was wrong in questioning that.

Then.. on the money for it.. you asked for 50.00usd on a gc worth 58.00, and to me, it was not worth that. People buy coupons and food stamps etc all the time.. for half face value. Fact. Based on that.. it is only worth, to me 27.00. But I will need your login as you can not transfer that gift certificate.

and now you want to get all upset and cry and want your account closed.. hmm.. you dont want to stay and actually be part of something good?
You want to come up in here, try and get funds for something you can not do anything with? hmm.. I hope you change your mind and outlook. :)

Enjoy VU.. please try and play again!

you still do not post much or often, and i am not going to go look at everything you have posted, sorry..
it just doesn't matter.. your badge, your typing and your attitude shows me a lot more than you think.

what you are selling, and what i think is worth, are 2 different things.

out to fuck me? lol.. no.. I don't think everyone is.. and will not go into all that.
I simply stated everything right in the post above this last one from you.
I think I made me out very clear.. re read what I posted.

You could always buy some popular items from FT and post them for sale in the classifieds/hardware section. People would probably pay full fasttech price + shipping just to not have to wait 3 weeks. You could probably recoup your entire credit...

for example, the freakshow mini is pretty popular right now. You could buy 7 of them, sell them for 9 bucks each plus mailing cost

That's an awful lot of bad attitude. No one said you were a scammer, EVER! You were the one that asked why people questioned you, and I tried very hard to point out WHY people were questioning you, and NOT to say that you are a scammer. I have no idea if you are a scammer or not, but you are not helping your own case here. If you ask for advice, you will get it, whether you agree with it or not is up to you. Don't ask if you don't want an honest answer.

Several people, including myself, tried to give you information on HOW you could increase your credibility and the potential to sell the GC from FT. Instead of listening to the advice we gave you to HELP OUT, you decided we didn't trust you and went off the deep end. This does NOT help your case at all. In fact, your child like tirade pushed one of the folks TRYING TO HELP YOU away from the thread. We are all supposed to be adults here, so act like one and you will be better off.

No one cares if you joined yesterday or 5 months ago. What most people care about is knowing and trusting you. Trust is earned, if you don't participate, then you don't get trusted. You could be a member for 3 years, but if you don't post and get to know people, or sell and build a reputation as a good seller, then you don't get trusted. If you don't want to be part of the community, then you can't expect to be treated like part of it.

It's your choice on how to proceed, but if you decide to stay in the forums, then you need to grow up, act accordingly, and treat people with respect, not attitude. If you choose not to do this, then it is your loss, there is a lot of good information here and a lot of good people. We don't know you, so we won't miss you, but you just might miss us.

Good luck.
