Was browsing through some older articles and stumbled across this one from April 2013. It's about nicotine patch and gum, but there was an interesting bit that jumped out at me. The FDA themselves said that nicotine doesn't have a significant risk of addiction.

from the article:
"The changes that FDA is allowing to these labels reflect the fact that although any nicotine-containing product is potentially addictive, decades of research and use have shown that NRT products sold OTC do not appear to have significant potential for abuse or dependence.

the full article is at: http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/feds-allow-nicorette-ease-warning-labels_714443.html

looks to me like some ammo we can use against the regulators, FDA, etc.

Big tobacco boosts the alkaloids and add a crap load of other chemicals to tobacco so it has the same flavor pack to pack, and is incredibly addictive. Smokers smoking ultra-ultra light cigs with a miniscule amount of nicotine are just a hooked as people that smoked non filter Pall Malls, thanks to the bio-chemists at Big Tobacco.
