Square Enix has finally announced that an HD remake of Final Fantasy VII is in development.

During Sony's Press Conference this evening, the company confirmed the remake will be coming first to PlayStation 4 and released a pretty special cinematic trailer. Other platforms were not announced.
In 2005, Sony unveiled a Final Fantasy VII-themed tech demo for its then-brand-new PlayStation 3 console. Fans have wanted an HD remake since. At last year's PlayStation Experience, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy VII would come to PS4, but only in its original, dated form.
