First Clapton on my El carbon not happy

So I tried my first Clapton on my El cabron. I bought the 24g from lightening vapes. I normally use a single 22g at 0.3 ohm, 6 wrap, and get great flavor. Not knowing the ohms of this I did a 9 wrap of Clapton coming in at 0.53 ohms. I put it on a regulated mod. I tried 32 to 48 wattts. Not getting the same flavor and a lot of popping.

Do you think maybe I have too many wraps? The coil is burning properly. Definitely takes longer to heat.

Too many Wraps man...What is the Core and Outer Wire Specs for the Clapton? I wouldnt do more then 6 Wraps unless your using Series Boxes. Most Clapton like around 70w-90w but this relies heavily on the Core and Outer Wrap specs and resistance.

@raymo2u it's 24g k core and 34g k outer. Maybe 6 wraps or 5? This thing is heavy at 9 wraps.
Try a 6 Wrap, its should come out to around .25 Ohms for a Dual Coil and its shoulkd be great around 75w-95w. Claptons tend to need more wattage to ramp up and keep the heat constant while drawing as the outer wrap acts like a thin heatsink that holds more juice, which also keeps it cooler.
Im actually taste testing a DIY homebrew with a similar build now (24g/36g) in my Mutation X4:

Thanks, maybe I should try that on my mutation x v3 instead of the El cabron. The 4 post will be much easier.

The El Cabron, Twisted Messes, 13 Heavens 9 Hells and other similar large chamber/big airflow RDA's like BIG fat builds with high wattages to work well. The build you have now will work in RDA's with tighter airflow and smaller chambers, like Hobo, Derringer, Mutations, Tugboats, Mad hatter, Doge and the mini versions of them.

I am going with your suggestion. The build I have now takes too long. Could be a wicking issue or a placement issue, too. Trying the 6 wrap in the mutation and going back to the 22g in the El cabron.
