Okay, dumb question, but you have juiced your wicks before firing right?

Edit: Also, what ohms are the coils, and what wattage/voltage are you using if it's a box mod?

Yes I wet the wick I've built a few .24 .29 .30 and I'm using a mech not a box Sony vtc4s

Seems you got one hot ass vape ..lol

Did you clean anything with any flamable liquids possibly?

Maybe not enough juice soaked entirely through the wick before firing?

Sounds like you didn't get the wicks wet enough before trying to heat them or you are simply firing them to long without anything to feed into them and keep them wet.

Also check how tight the wick is in the coil. If it is to tight it will choke off the juice and prevent the wick from being able to soak up juice and depending on the size of your coil could result in a dry spot forming inside of the coil and it burning.

You can only take so many hits before you should re juice a wick and what InMyImage said about is spot on...too thick of a wick wont soak up the juice fast enough and will burn the wick to a point it can catch on fire.

I sort of question why you are subohming on an atty that low before knowing some basics and safety.

Let your friend look at one you built and see what he thinks about it for your safety.

Make sure to get a battery voltage tester also and try not to go below 3.5v with your battery (extended safety margin) or it could be more than a coil wick catching on fire.

Yeah, I have to remember to doublecheck my builds now... forgot to prime the wick in my Kayfun once and got a big whoomph! the first time I lit it up! Surprised the hell out of me. Always double check now!

Had that happen on the stock coils that came with my MutationX V2 Clown, oh..sorry, 'clone'...on the HexOhm, min. volts...need .275 ohm coils, according to Steam..if I recall exactly. With saturated coils...

A lot of different builds catch fire occasionally. For the most part it's simply a lack of air flow, meaning it occurs most often when you juice the wicks for the first time or fire the mod to let the old juice go away. Always blow at the coils when you're reseting the wicks for new juice. It might also be a short current spark from the posts - it's impossible to see, since it gets lost somewhere in the atomizer or vanishes in coils or wick. It's not that much of a deal, unless you keep on pressing the button on mech with no vapor coming out. Shorting the battery for longer than 10 seconds might cause some troubles, but very rarely. The button gets so freaking hot in this case, that it's merely impossible to keep the circuit going. More seldom it's the juice ingredients. Only if it happens several times in a row or when you have your battery really hot that's something to worry about. I had my wicks catching fire and they tasted slightly burned for a couple of hits, but after juicing everything went away. Didn't even have to change them.

Another time I was firing the coils while changing wicks and it caught fire for 2-3 seconds. Stopped the circuit, burned the shit off the coils, put the new wick. Nothing ever happened again.
