First mech mod advice

Hi all,

I've got a vape expo coming up in a couple of weeks and I'm going with the intention of picking up my first mech mod/rda combo. I've been looking around at a few but like regulated devices there are so so many! I'm drawn towards the sub ohm innovations shorty and rda, I want something quality. I'm basically after some personal recommendations, advice on what to look out for and what to avoid.

Thanks
Nick

I went for a series mod by tesla in the end. Invader III with a mason 24mm rda. I was on an rx200s and avocado 24 prior. Will never go back.

other than it being hybrid & no locking ring, can't go wrong with the Shorty. Just a solid all rounder that has an extremely low voltage drop

Thanks guys, I don't mind a hybrid, so longs it's of good quality, I didn't realise it had no locking ring though, it's not a major issue but definitely something to think about for sure. I could always remove the battery to be safe if required.

could buy the full size & the shorty button separately (typically $30)

keep in mind the extra intent of removing the battery. If this is going to be a daily carry- how likely are you to ACTUALLY do that when you are in a rush.
I am absent minded; and, I have a scar on my leg as a reminder of how hot a mod can get when you forget to lock it.
other than that, its a fine kit.
Personally, I am not a fan of hybrid mods, because I like to change tops a lot. I have quite a few now, so I just mix and match properly. But if I were to only get one mechanical, I would look into something with a 510. out of what I have, my favorite would be the copper overdose or copper flagship.

I understand where your coming from, and if I'm honest then yeah I'm also pretty absent minded! However it isn't going to be my daily carry, well I don't think it is :) it's certainly something I need to consider. I will have a look at all the recommendations though!

Thanks again

Just to clear things up, the SOI Shorty comes with a standard 510 connection. It's not even a direct-to-battery. It can also be used as a hybrid with the SOI Competition RDA.

Locking rings suck. Recessed button only for me. I've been using a stainless steel SMPL for two years. Best daily driver, beater mod I've ever used. The hybrid 510, single piece tube and simple button design make it hit as hard as some copper mods I've used. This thing will last longer than me.

Soi is a fine set up.
Subzero is made for the Soi similar to how a roughneck goes into a rig.
If yo7 can find it and afford it, I'd get a dominus w. Lochaber set and sidefire set.
Superior to the soi imo and also eliminates battery arcing as the soi does.

Not familiar with this mech. Could you loosen the atty ?
