OK,

I just received my first RBA and I have a few questions. I have purchased a few coils from AVS for this first build. I ordered some triple fused claptons in SS 28gx3/36g / 3mm 7 turns and fused claptons SS in 28gx2/40 /3mm 7 turns. Are these good coils for this build?

Hard to say as that is almost 100% a personal choice type of deal, but if you could give a bit of info we might be able to offer suggestions or tips...

What mod are you using...mech (if so, tube, box, serial, or parallel) or VV/VW (if so, what settings do you typically run)?

What experience do you have with vaping...you say this is your first RBA, what have you used previously?

What kind of vape are you looking for...flavor or clouds or a combo?

Do you do direct to lung hits or mouth to lung hits?

Do you prefer a warm moist vape or cooler dry vape?

Are you planning on running dual or single coils?

Any other info about what you're looking out of it or personal style or preferences might help narrow down whether this setup would be good for you to go with.

You're not drinking water are you?! You realize that stuff is found in antifreeze!?!

I'd vape on either of those all day ;) Depends how/what you vape.
I build my own, but I have heard good things about AVS, and I like that they clapton their cores with the higher gauge wire (36+) the way it should be done IMO.

Sorry I am using a SMOK Procolor right now. I typically run it at around 70-80 watts.

I have been vaping for about a month. Still using the baby beast for my tank.

Flavor is most important to me right now. I do enjoy the clouds though, just not as important.

I guess I am not experienced enough to know whether I prefer direct lung or mouth to lung right now.

Much prefer the moist vapor hits.

I just got the Goon and have a Tsunami 24 on the way.

I am really enjoying vaping. I have not found many vapes that I really love except a few.

Should be a decent setup for you...stainless has the quick ramp-up time to get a warm moist vape with staying in that wattage range you mentioned...I use 26 gauge cores and go with 5-6 wraps, not sure how much difference 28 gauge cores would do, but if there's a sluggish ramp time, pulling a wrap or two out of the coils would help that. Just gotta make sure to work out all the hot spots in the coil beforehand or before mounting the coil, spread the wraps out and make it a spaced coil rather than a contact coil...shouldn't have any hot spots to work out with that technique. For more flavor you probably want to mount your coils higher up rather than lower in the rda...after working out any hot spots and centering the coils, you can insert a screwdriver into the coil and pull up to allow plenty of airflow under the coils, but not so high that you burn your lips. Here's a setup I used with my original goon...
