first rta?

Been reading reviews and forum posts for a week or so now and I still can't decide. I guess it comes down to the serpent mini vs the merlin mini...but then there's the troll, or the mage...

The serpent mini and merlin mini both have a lot of fans and great reviews, but the serpent mini build deck looks awkward to me and I hear about problem with shorts due to the clamp style, wires falling out or not fitting. And the merlin looks great too but everyone keeps talking about how tricky it is to wick and how it dumps juice everywhere.

I suppose I want something easy to build on and wick, reliable, and as anti-leak as possible. Thoughts?

Thanks.

well you mention tanks most people prefer for MTL and/or single coil builds

But if you want easy dont get a mage they are not easy IMHO. NOt difficult just not the best first rta to try.
Crius or crius plus ar enice
my favorites are griffins- ANY OF THEM
not great for mtl
but the 25 and 25 mini have a block to make them single coil

They are easy to assemble easy to build on plenty of room for larger coils
the only trick on the mini is you have to put one coil leg on top and one on bottom....which is what a lot of people do anyway but not everyone, and if you dont on the griffin 25mm mini it dont work

And I have never used the merlin MINI but the orignal merlin was butt simple to use in single coil mode not the best first rta to try for dual coils....its quite doable as a dual coil if you are using simple small coils, but different to wick then most dual coil rtas. Bit if you use it as a single coil its easy peasy and mine never leaked

How about the iJoy Exo RTA ? Comes with a single & dual coil deck. A 2ml & 6ml tank. A restrictor for the airhole like the Merlin mini. Plenty of options. Great flavor, single coil easy peasy to build. I love mine.

The OBS Nano RTA. Single coil, love it too. But some peeps have issues getting flavor right.

There are threads at the other forum for both.

I have owned the Augvape Merlin Mini, iJoy EXO RTA, OBS Engine, OBS Engine Mini for over a month now and can't say anything bad about them.

Here is a quick and dirty for each one.

Augvape Merlin Mini
  • 24mm RTA
  • Single or Dual Coil build decks
  • MTL (air restriction pin) or open air flow
  • 2ml juice containment
iJoy EXO RTA
  • 26mm RTA
  • Single or Dual Coil build decks
  • MTL (air restriction pin) or open air flow
  • 2ml juice AND 6ml juice containment
OBS Engine
  • 25mm RTA
  • Dual Coil build decks
  • Top Air Flow (MTL or Open)
  • 5.2ml juice containment
OBS Engine Mini
  • 23mm RTA
  • Dual Coil build decks
  • Top Air Flow (MTL or Open)
  • 3.5ml juice containment

If you have issues with RTAs leaking, and are in search of one that does NOT leak -- Go with the OBS Engine. No leaking ever (no bottom airflow).
They are also good with flavor (once you get the coil / cotton positioning down).

The Merlin Mini and EXO RTA are easier to wick IMO. Damn near a stuff it in and go. Awesome flavor from both attys. I personally would opt for the EXO RTA over the Merlin Mini because it has both glass containers for more / less juice capacity. The Merlin Mini is the single capacity.

Another RTA that I will throw out there is the Geekvape Ammit. I own three of these and still use them quite often. These are more of a restrictive airflow compared to the ones listed. However, still a very good flavor atty and single coil only design.

Ended up giving mine away, just isn't there in the flavor department. Very airy and more of a Clouds Bro Atty

Absolutely, most RDTA’S are for cloud chucking but lately they have been getting better in the flavor department.

Variety's the very spice of life, that gives it all it's flavour.

Look also at the Top Coiled tanks like the Avocado 24.

Direct hit or MTL, this Avocado of mine is the easiest tank to live with I have ever purchased.

The Boreas is another good one. The first build is intimidating but you'll figure it out quick and by the third time your in and out in 10 minutes. It will also do MTL or cloud chasing and the flavor with K1 is fantastic.

Don't have the Vgod or Serpent. Got my eye on the Serpent. Not impressed with the Merlin RDTA. Pindad for me is the flavor King of RDTA's so far. I want to get my hands on the Cthulhu Gaia too.

I've really been digging my Merlin RTDA, I run a pair of 27x2/38 SS fused Claptons@around 0.17 and getting damn good flavor.

Try a Vgod clone, I think you'll dig it. They're around $10 give or take.

Yeah love the VGod so much I have 2 authentic and.... shit I think about 10-12 Clones

Yeah really love it

I got a vgod clone an dthought it was horrible in the flavor department. the limitless plus has triple the flavor with identical builds. The lack of airflow control ruins it imho.
I still got my clone...practically brand spanking new in black. If you want it id be willing to trade

KInda left field, but I ended up springing for the obs engine nano in the end. I still want the merlin mini, it is a gorgeous thing, but realistically the juice capacity in the nano is going to be better for me. The engine is bigger than I really want, wish the nano came in 23mm, and honestly I don't like the aesthetics too much, but I'm in the UK and TPD is coming soon, so I'm not sure if I'll even be able to buy tanks larger than 2ml in the future, so I thought I'd get a good one whilst I could.

That gold mini merlin though....so hot

Go check out the thread at ECF. For coiling & wicking tips. I think as long as you coil & wick correctly you'll love it. 5.2ml capacity & no leaking.
