I'm not new to building coils, but new to mechs. I have vtc4 batteries and the amp limit is 30 according to Sony, but mooch says they are more like 23. If I build at .19 the amp draw will be 22.1 or .18 it will be about 23.3. Let's assume my coil lands at .18 will I still be ok or should I pick up some 26g for my new recoil rda? I know I could do more wraps but I don't think it will fit.

You are fine. I build my mechs to .15 with the VTC4. Huge clouds, but it sucks the battery down quickly.

I use 22 Gauge SS 316L. Instant ramp up time.

Ok, thanks! I'm not too worried about battery life, I have 3 I can use in rotation if necessary. 2 are only about 2 months old

Go SS. Best flavor IMHO. Instant ramp up time. You will need more wraps than Kanthal, but get a good RDA like a Goon and forget about the # of wraps.

I'm hearing good things about the recoil. I picked one up today and I'm hoping for a stellar performance. I have a derringer and I've vaped the shit out of that...lol

I have 28g and 36g 316l. I need to place a FT order and I'm trying to spare the bit I got left along...lol

Do a twisted 28 gauge with 3 strands.

It will blow you away in a good sense.

Monster fog banks my friend.

Lower gauge will lower you resistance. You can double and triple twist that 28 G for same result. Or even better you can coil it as double or triple parallel. I do everything for tubes in parallel configuration. I would probably Clapton that 28 with 36 and do two strands 28 twisted and then folded and counter twisted again so you end up with four strand twisted 28G. Build it as staged Clapton. Fairly simple build that will provide great flavor and clouds with quick ramp up if you keep it low.

Wow...some real good ideas that I wouldn't think of. I just did a couple basic fused claptons with SS. I'll try that twisted idea staged with a clapton one day and see how it works out. Thank you

It's vaping pretty good but the ramp up is kind of slow and it seems to drop off after a few seconds. Is this due to the rise in resistance as the SS heats up?

Drop off is probably caused by battery sag

28g claptoned with 36g all SS.
I just started using it and noticed little sparks comming out from around my firing button on my FUHATTON. I took the battery out until I can get some info on it. It dont seem right.

Stop it until you figure it out. It seems that you have a battery / mod problem. What battery do you have?

vtc4
I'm gonna tear it apart as much as I can and give it a good cleaning and try a different battery tomorrow after it dries real well

ss shouldnt have that slow rampup. i did a fused 24g ss wrapped in 38kd and it was instant madness. close to no rampup with thick coils.

I'm thinking this might be a dud mod
martnargh can recommend you more then few high quality tubes. He has the arsenal and experience behind it. All that I can recommend you is authentic Kennedy Roundhouse since that is what I have made a choice to keep and use. If you wanna quick hot coils in a single cell tube, you should have a good one that is reliable, well constructed, and hits hard with minimal drop. On tubes I build around 0.07 Ohm and have no issues thank to Kennedy and LG HG2.
