Congrats on your new endeavors @HeadInClouds & @wllmc ... I hope you both are wildly successful and I truly mean that!

Conversely however, I can't help but feel that this is probably the death knell for the DIY community. I totally understand and support your reasons for going commercial but I can't see anyone else wanting to continue to share recipes to any great extent in the future as a result. It's sad that a few greedy individuals ( Vapecrafter, Daath, etc ) had to ruin things for everyone.

That said, at least we still have the great wealth of information that you both have graciously shared with all of us and for that I am very grateful! :)

Ill still be sharing and helping. This has taken a lot of time ao i have been absent for awhile. I love diy and ill always be around to help. Mixing is a passion for me. Before all this in the past i had many request for something like this. I want everyone to succeed in quiting smoking and mixing their own juice. Mama js is just an option in a sea of flavorings. Anyone can contact me here or at [email protected] for any help or advice.

In my attempt to create a buttery type cake, as I added a drop or two shakes and caped I ended up with a sweet, buttered nut, slightly spiced cake....
1% FA Vienna cream

.5% FA coconut
.5% FA Marzipan
.5% FA cookie
.5% FA Apple pie
.5% FA cardamom
.5% FA Meringue
.25% FA Hazelnut

Concerning Butter flavor... I came across a listing in my notes that a little bit less of Butterscotch to Brown Sugar will produce a butter effect. Might be an alternative you want to explore.

I don't see why that would be the case at all. Following the old "ecf purevapes" thread and making some of the recipes along the way is still introducing people to DIY and FA. I still hear from people who followed that thread all the way here, mixing and learning along the way. When someone brand-new to DIY really wants to master mixing, that thread and this one are like an online course (with personality!) all available free.

Vape DIY is a like a mini version of real-food home-cooking. Real-food bloggers post free recipes, have blogs, have best-selling paper cookbooks -- and increasingly offer recipes for purchase online. None of that has been a death knell for home cooking - it all promotes the concept and adds to the body of knowledge. Issues we've had with recipes in the DIY world -- all occurred earlier in the real-food-recipe world.

Like @wllmc , I'm a dedicated DIYer, still available as always, and I enjoy helping DIYers (especially with FA flavors) get results they like in a LOT less time than it took us! As in real cooking, there's no end to the process - always new things for all of us to learn, no matter how long we've been at it, and VU is a great place for that.

By the way, recipes in my store are not public ones, except the 1-2 that are free. If this distribution format proves successful, I'd like to eventually make a mirror site for all my public recipes. The free automatic-update service (for any recipe you download) is one big advantage that no forum can provide.

IMO the few unethical people didn't ruin anything. They pushed us to come up with creative, new alternatives that benefit everyone involved (except for those unethical people). Now....I got some mixin' to do!

Okay, here is an update to my Cookie Monster inspired post.

Mothers Frosted Animal Crackers

3% FA Cookie
2% FA Strawberry
1.5% TFA Whipped cream
0.5% FA Meringue
0.5% FA Cola

I picked up a big bag of Mother's Circus Cookies yesterday (strictly for testing) and did a comparison between them and my mix.
I found that I pretty much got the flavor right.

To please the Cookie Monster in us all, I added 0.5% AP to bumped up the cookie. It worked, but changed the flavor of the other ingredients, so I discarded that idea and am sticking to the original recipe I posted unless any of you have any ideas.

Nestles' Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookies.

This is a trickier recipe. First because I don't taste chocolate hardly at all and second because of the nut and butter considerations.

The Chocolate I am going to leave as is, except I switched to dark instead of clear, simply because the double chocolates I can sorta taste. For those who have favorite cocoa and chocolate flavors, feel free to use them.

Brown sugar is a big part of the original Nestles recipe and I found the amount in my recipe to be insufficient. I raised it to 2%

As a result of the conversation above I had with @Huckleberried, I decided to add 1% Fa Nut Mix to the recipe and upped the coconut to 0.75%. I left the Walnut in because I like walnut. To my taste this made a big improvement.

To help with both the Cookie and the Chocolate I decided to add one drop per 5ml of finished juice. This amount helps in my tobacco recipes and it seems to here also; without changing the basic flavor. It is purely optional.

If around 10% Flavoring seems high to you, feel free to halve the percentages or double your base.

Chocolate Chip Cookie

3% FA Cookie
2% TFA Double Chocolate Dark
2% TFA Brown Sugar
1% FA Nut Mix
0.75% FA Coconut
0.5% FA Walnut
TFA AP. 1 drop per 5ml (optional)

As for Mixing them together: I haven't tried it yet. I probably won't. (I suggested it to please "The Cookie Monster") But I might fill two separate tanks.

Anyway, enjoy messing with the recipes and post any ideas you might have.

Edited to add the animal cracker recipe so you don't have to go looking, and to format better.

When you bake a cookie, white sugar in the dough caramelizes. Brown sugar + butter form butterscotch. My cookie recipes often use those to mimic that baked flavor from those ingredients.
So you are saying, if I have this right, that if I added a touch of caramel and butterscotch I might better achieve the baked cookie effect I'm after? If so I'll give it a try.

I see FA sample sizes: http://mamajsjuice.com/ under Shop, FlavourArt ... 3ml flavorings for $1.50
@wllmc - does that coupon you posted earlier work on these, too? With that and free shipping at $20, I wish I needed some.
yes, it applies for everything until midnight Sunday night. I'll get more up as I can. There seems to be a lot of interest in bigger sizes also so I am working on that now to see what I can do for everyone. 3ml FA is where I started my FA journey so I thought I'd share the experience.

I'll second the wish for larger sizes, as any sample bottle I empty, deserves to be purchased in 10 ml. Are you planning on offering any tobacco flavors? There are many of those I would like to try in a sample size.

Just wondering if anyone has used black walnut or walnut if they actually taste like walnut I would also imagine the percentages would be very low.

I think you might like it. Be aware that the ap you have in there (in addition to whatever is in Cookie) can make Caramel and Butterscotch really sweet. IMO, that's good in cookies!

FA Walnut tastes like English walnuts, and it's not overpoweringly strong to me. I use up to 1% or so in recipes to add nut flavor. It's a much tamer flavor than Hazelnut or Nut Mix. I don't mean less strong/concentrated, just not as attention-grabbing. It's not sweet or toasted or candied - just a plain nut flavor. I'd never vape that standalone, but it's a good addition to cookies, good nut for tobacco (to me), and when it ages, it can give some buttery flavor.

I love real black walnuts, but I don't have a flavoring of it.

I went ahead and mixed another 15 ml after getting your like on my guess as to what you meant.

I lowered the brown sugar to 1% from 2% and added 0.5% FA Caramel along with 0.25% Butterscotch. I taste a definite improvement over my version even though it has not steeped yet.

Thanks for the tip on caramel and butterscotch combining to provide a baked flavor. It solves a number of recipes for me. Now to figure out the proper ratio between the two. I suppose that varies from recipe to recipe to recipe to...

Thank you I have been deciding if I wanted to get it for some time the way you have explained it is just what I wanted to hear. I do have some mixes that I think would be better with this rather than Hazelnut or almond. Thanks for your Quality time. Black walnuts go very well in a good homemade fudge;)

Not sure why you don't just start selling juice HIC. The recipes can still be used by these same people to make $3 per bottle while you make a whopping $3 period. This is the same thought process that taxing cigarettes more will reduce underage smoking. It accomplished nothing really. These new recipes are going to make it all over the net anyway.

I sell juice to my friends and work because they love it. I tell them if them if they find a juice they like let me have a 4 ml bottle and I will cloan it. So far only one found one they liked but they wanted it to be less strength. I did it but I tell you it was not easy it was a fruit or should I say fruittttttttttttttttttttttts 8 different fruits. Did not think cloaning would be so hard but that juice took time lol one time I would get apple then peach then lime then strawberry the more I tested the more worried I got lol. I like doing it and enjoy people enjoying it. Plus helps pay for the whole family vaping lol. That is what happens when the whole family vapes and you are the one that makes it. I out smarted the family I have a great tasting juice only takes two flavors to make and unless your a fruit lover you would prolly like it anyhow I made a lot set the bottles around the house after a few weeks now they all prefer to vape it lol. I find this a lot easier than making many different flavors hint hint.

Good luck! Might want to spend a touch more TIME to proofread.
From "Our Story" - "Much of our tie is spent in the kitchen"
I have trouble with a capitol H on my keyboard and you are missing the m in time. I know you want to make the very best impression.
Grammar Nazis with poor grammar = funny. Minor harm, no foul...both the HIC site and wllmc site seem like winners to me - gl to both, and you both will likely see some of my money at some not-too-distant point...

Not sure why you don't just start selling juice HIC.

Nicotine regulation and potential liability issues are at the top of my list of reasons. The increasing demonization of nicotine and vaping has me concerned even as a DIYer - actually selling it would be more stress than I need. IMO it's a risky time to jump into the supply side.

Maybe I'm overly analytical,
but if you don't taste apple + banana bread
but you do taste timamisu + cheesecake

could it be that you just need mixes with contrasting flavors?
If so, adding a little Forest Mix, Bilberry, or Blackcurrant to apple and/or banana bread might allow you to taste all the flavors involved.

It's might be worth experimenting.

HIC, I think you nailed this one! The recipes I have trouble tasting seem to have complementary, not contrasting, flavors. I never would have figured this out on my own, so thank you!! Going to order some Bilberry, along with some other flavors I need for one of your private recipes :) I've been vaping just a few blends I can taste, so I'm excited to add some new mixes to my rotation. Thanks again!

44 more from WL yesterday. And I look at recipe's and still see stuff I dont have wtf?
But now I have Quince, Rose Candy and Worcestershire! as well as Black Sesame Seed, Rose Candy, Rumchata and Taro.
Forgot I have 14 more coming from Ecigexpress.
And the TFA Caramel I thought I had was Lorann Caramel! So I meesed up HIC's Caramel Cappuccino LOL! Been adding flavoes to 25ml for 2 days trying to make something vapable.
The problem I see is I have to have every flavor from TFA, FA, FW, etc. Wish there was only 1 source for flavors!

While reading about why pistachios no longer have the red color they had 30 years ago, I came upon a number of recipes for pistachio desserts. One of them interested me. It looked yummy and might also translate to vaping fairly easy. It took a few tries and restarts but eventually came together.

Peach and Pistachio Trifle

2.5% TFA Pistachio
2% FA White Peach
1% HIC's Cheesecake Flavoring.
0.5% FA Orange
0.5% FA Vanilla Bourbon
0.5% FA Fresh Cream
0.25 FA Mandarin
0.25 FA Honey
0.25 FA Peppermint

Here is a link to the recipe I adapted this from. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/27/peach-and-pistachio-trifl_n_1383221.html

A few Notes:

I thought I had FA Pistachio on hand. I didn't, hence the TFA. I've used it before with success.

The food recipe called for canned peaches, so according to HIC's notes, I should have used FA Peach instead of FA White Peach. I probably used White Peach. (reseller labeling problems) FA Peach and FA White Peach will both be on my next order from a different vendor to settle the matter.

Hic's Cheesecake Flavoring is handy to have around. Flavoring only. Set your calculator to make a 120ml batch of Cheesecake and then mix the flavors only. It yields about 7.5ml of flavoring. It ages well.

Oh, and the reason we no longer have red tongues and fingers from eating pistachios? It seems the harvesting methods in the Mid-east were a bit rough on the pistachios and left marks on the nuts. The red dye covered the marks. Harvesting methods have since improved and the dye was no longer needed.

I hope you enjoyed this bit of history and the vape too.

Probably just as well - the FA one is very woody! I'll have to get some of the TFA one, I only have Atmos Lab's one... I really like it, but I don't think it's like the TFA one (from what I've read).

Oh, yum! Got pistachio on my list. Thanks for this caddisfly!
You're welcome misswish. If you really like Pistachio, as I do, there is a lot of room left to up it. TFA flavors generally are weaker than FA. I kept it that low to not diminish the peach, but haven't tried upping it yet.

OK, you guys are nuts, and I love it. I've been making my own juice for about 6 months now, using mainly TFA and CAP flavors. After reading this thread and any thread I could find that HIC posted a recipe I just ordered 52 FA flavors and am going to try to convert over to mainly FA. It's hard to believe the percentages your using. With TFA flavors it was easy to get to 15 or 20% flavors. Since I like max vg for my drippers it looks like FA will be great. Thanks to everyone that's been sharing here and I'm sure you'll be seeing me a lot in this thread.

I think so. Most of the flavors were just 12 ml until I find the ones I like the best. I did get vienna cream, caramel, and coca in 30 ml because they seem to be in a lot of different recipes. Thanks for the welcome everybody.

Welcome frito!
Some of the lower % you may have to increase a tiny bit for high vg. For me. .5% increase usually works. Ytbmv. (Your taste buds may vary)

Have fun with all the new flavors!

What are some of your Adv mixes you make now?
