Also thought the Variable Voltage USB Passthrough may be great for her https://www.fasttech.com/products/1353300. Has anyone tried it?
You'd need to get her a good USB charger too, like one made for the iPad (has to be rated at +2.1amps), because there's no internal battery to store power. Also, description says you can plug it into a computer, but I wouldn't - even if you could get it to work that way, one little incident (a short, etc.) can totally zap your motherboard. If it were me, I would opt for a Spinner/Twist as backup to her iStick. And you don't have to subohm with subohm tanks. They sell higher resistance coils for them too (like 1.2Ω or 1.5Ω), work really well (at least the Kanger Subtank Mini, that's the one I've tried out) and they hold a ton of juice. ;) ...but would look a little janky on a Spinner. :D

Thanks cindycated. I hadn't thought of the probs the passthrough might cause to her computer. I'd thought about the Subtank Mini(that I'm loving with a 1.2Ω coil) wondering if it might be a little hot for her. Like most new vapers, at this time she wants something just like a real cigarette and she doesn't want clouds. LOL I know she'll change her mind pretty soon. Already, after vaping no flavour she's saying she'd like to try a just little flavour and she's not getting enough "smoke" :)

Hey guys, I have a buddy that is desperately seeking an old fashioned (whiskey) flavored juice. I think I will be able to figure most of it out, but I am a bit stumped on something to replicate bitters. Any ideas?

@HeadInClouds has an entire thread on liquor and drink mixes. I know he has already hit this even if I can't find it to link it quickly.

Looking through it now myself, I can't find bitters either. I could have sworn I remember seeing something from HiC about it...

Don't ever get old... They say that memory is the second thing to go.
Right I had checked that post before I posted here. I was thinking maybe bergamot? I'm not sure that's a great sub but he wants the more modern version of an old fashioned with the muddled fruit and simple syrup so along with the whiskey it might work out. I have to wait to order some fresh whiskey flavoring after we go on vacation next week so we shall see.

I have used this substitute for bitters when my liquor cabinet was bare:

Mix pinches of cinnamon, cloves, mace and nutmeg with finely diced orange or lemon peel in 2 tablespoons of vodka or rum. Use within a day or the cinnamon and clove will take over.

How one could translate those flavors in a vaping mix, HiC could probably fathom. :)

I wonder if you could just use a little Angostura Bitters diluted in some PG or VG

Hmm, maybe a touch of cardamom with bergamot or grapefruit? I don't know. HIC why haven't you already done this work for me? ;)

TPA has bitter I believe. I will look and try reporting back
Thanks, but I'm an FA purist. Nothing wrong with any of the other companies really but I just support Flavourarts testing and business practices.

TFA has a sour (Malic Acid) that I know of. I don't know that it would work but Flavour Art Bitter Wizard might do it.
I believe Bitter Wizard helps to eliminate overly bitter flavors.

I taste the bitter notes in FA Grapefruit, Bergamot, Black Tea, sometimes Lime Tahiti, sometimes Gin. At first glance they may not sound like the appropriate flavors, but it's worth experimenting if you want bitter notes. Bitter Wizard does nothing for me, but I simply can't taste most sour/bitter additives (perhaps partly related to using high VG!), so that's just me.

I think I shouldn't have any problem getting something bitter enough for an old fashioned but do you have any ideas for what could make the flavor of bitters in the cocktail?

I don't, but this kind of info is where I would start: http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-homemade-bitters-cooking-lessons-from-the-kitchn-197883

@RyGon - Old Fashioneds are made with a tiny dash or two of Angostura Bitters - Here's a link - http://www.angosturabitters.com/aromaticbitters.
This article might give you some more ideas.
Thanks guys, I'm not too worried about it now. We went out tonight and I ordered an old fashioned the way my friend likes them and the bourbon and muddled fruit make it pretty tough to pick out any flavor of the bitters. I will go ahead with a little bergamot since orange is a dominant flavor anyway along with the cherries. I might try just a touch of cardamom. I don't want to have to go above 12ml testers so if .25% is still too strong I will probably not even bother with it.

Don't worry, it will be a couple weeks, but I will share. Don't hold your breath for a great recipe though, I'd say a good 80% of my recipes I would consider a fail. Mostly because I am constantly chasing a good all fruit juice. The darker fruits don't give me so much trouble, but I prefer the brighter fruits and I have probably failed at least 10 times each with lemonades and peaches-n-cream vapes. I make it harder on myself staying 100% FA. I'd pay good money to get FA to make some candy fruits. The commercial liquids that are supposed to be produce still have candy bases IMO.

That's what happens when you make things out of thi air. You can use any dreamed up flavor you want! But wouldn't it be great if it was FA!?
FA Sweet Cream??

I just mixed a lemon cookie and .5% marshmallow swallowed my 4% lemon Sicily..
As strong as 4% lemon sicily would be, I don't see how 0.5% marshmallow would do that. At that level I think it would add sweetness more than be a flavor addition. Are you sure there is nothing else in there doing that?

Yes sir. I've been making that same recipe for a while, just decided to add some marshmallow to it.

Maybe it is reacting with something else you have in the recipe? Do you have CAP Cake Batter in the recipe?

It's just cookie and lemon. And I've gotten into the habit of shaking everything when I mix.
Now, three days after I mixed it. I can slightly taste lemon.

Think I might be on to a shortbread cookie recipe

Had done 5% FW Sugar Cookie, but then for kicks I added 2% FA cookie.
It sat for a day steeping, just vaped it and I could swear it tasted like a shortbread cookie at first. But then subsided to a taste of almost nothing. So might need to increase the flavoring in it.

Although the liquid itself doesn't smell nor taste like cookie.

What you explained happens every time I vape something new, or old for that matter if I havent had the juice for a day or so. That first inhale is always " yumm", but then it always subsides for me and can seem to be weak. I dont know what the answer is. I think some of us might just get used to any taste rather quickly.

I mix my juices rather strong because of it. I mix Hics mixes and Wllmc's mixes up to 50% higher and even at double sometimes. althought sometimes they are perfect as written for me. I think that we are all a bit different in this regard.

Try upping the recipie and see if it helps. Sounds simple but it works for me, although my tastebuds still get used to anything rather fast.

Remember that first drink of a freshly opened CocaCola and even an old cigarette was like "Ahhhhh"......... Then it became a bit "Ho-Hum" the more you partake.

Hmm...why doesent that happen to me with Ice Cream ? ;):)

Quick question, I'd imagine this is the right place to ask, so here goes... using the Vienna Creme in a mix, I notice a strong chemical scent off it... does the VC need an extended steep, or should I just air it out a bit? I've already done the hot water steep, just curious if other folks are experiencing this.
Have not noticed that . I aften use this in recipes and just shake and vape. I have been mixing when I run out so am behind on letting things steep. I even liked V Cream as a stand alone when I tried it.

Thank you so much Huck. It's a great Birthday pres for me. A fab new vape and brilliant news.

My cousin has a severe pain debility that makes it near impossible for her to mix or even fill her clearomizers so we're looking for some atomizers that will hold enough ejuice for a day. She doesn't want to subohm. We bought an Eleaf Istick 30W so she doesn't need to recharge so often and a few CE5's for her to get used to vaping as well as a Nautilus Mini that she hasn't tried out yet.

The only non-subohm atomizers in a larger size that I've been able to find are the full size Nautilus, Vivi Novas, some Innokin iClears , but I don't know which ones and a Protank 2.5ml. We'll also get a few Vision Spinners as spare batteries, just in case, either 1300s or 2200s.

I'm still fairly too new as to what is available and what goes with what so any advice or suggestions will be so greatly appreciated.
What about the Atlantis with the 5 or 7 ml tank and using there 1.0 ohm coil heads She could vape that around 10 to 15 watts on the I stick and at that power the juice would last a long time. I know we think of that as a sub ohm tank but they do have the non sub ohm heads for it

Hi everyone have not been on since summer began. When I last posted I was just beginning to mix. I have really enjoyed mixing and have saved a lot of money. I am mixing for myself, my wife, my son and just started mixng for a friend of ours. So far everyone seems to like a Stawberry Milk recipe that I do as well as a Pina Colada and a Banana Nut Bread. Just got 15 new flavors in and decided to log on to get some inspiration. So now I am off to mix one of HIC's recipes and a couple of my own I am getting close on. If anybody is on the fence still about starting it is fun and the initial ivestement is well worth it. This is the first order I have placed since my origina $100 about 3 months ago. Since I was vaping two or three
30 ml bottles a week, plus I am giving it to the other mentioned people, so not only am I having fun but it is the cheapest hobby I have had yet. The mixing that is jury is still out on vaping as a whole. I have a Crown Tank and a new White Out moe on the upcoming purchase list so not doing so well on the equipment part. But really have spent little money this summer. In AZ the electric bills get high in the summer so I cut down on other spending to compensate. Hope yiou all are doing well. Many of you have taught and inspired me to mix and be a better mixer

I use .5 Marshmellow often in recipes and have never tasted it just sweetened the mix up a little. But I have never tried it with LemonSic. or Cookie so I cannot say much else. FA Marshmellow is the only thing I use to sweeten recipes and it has always done the job without leaving a taste profile of it's own. But I have only been mixing for about 4 months so am not an expert.

Im glad it has really come together for you. I went hog wild mixing for about a year and a half off and on. Now Im in a sort of "Cruise Control Mode". I agree that everyone here is so very helpful. You never know what you will learn from a veteran mixer or a fairly new mixer. Its all good !

Congrats again on sticking with it and coming out on top. Cheers !!
