Fogger v5 - Piece of Crap!!!!

AAARGH - I was so looking forward to the Fogger v5. Top fill, bigger airholes....great. But what do they do, they screw up the deck and the top fill is no more useful...at best.

Deck - No longer are there 4 nice secure screws to put your dual build on. It's TWO spring loaded posts that can't hold the coils for sh@t. You need to press down on the posts and insert the coils. Problem is, the clamps suck, so it wont hold the build. The post aren't even straight. I fought with it for 10 min with two beautiful coils, that quickly got screwed up. I'm sure this is something that is going to be remedied, but they pushed this out of China quick.



Top Fill - Longer chimney to accommodate two piece top. You unscrew the upper top to reveal an O ring. You remove the O ring with a tweezer or small flathead. You also need a needle nose to fill it. Small top juice bottles are messy. The bottom screw is easier IMHO



The parts are interchangeable with the V4.1, so I took the top fill piece and put it on the with the V4 deck. Not bad, not great.

Wait for fix to the deck before ordering one of these things. I hear there are some with screws, I might try that. So disappointed.

In your package there should be screws to replace the spring posts on the deck. I tried to build using the springs out of curiosity, but swapped out for the screws pretty quickly. They work just fine.

The fogger didn't have 4 posts, think your thinking of the orchid instead, as all foggers I know of have had only 2 posts.

Fogger v4.1 definitely has only 2 posts.

Yeah, one of the things I love about my Fogger v4 is nearly all of my desk-size bottles can just fill it. Takes me less than a minute.

Heck, I put twisted 33awg dual coils in mine with the screws - which was a PITA - but it doesn't need new coils often.

Newer isn't always better.

Dude, maybe you should spend some time with your tech before you run off to bag it online. Sounds like you can't really tell you arse from elbow.

How can you say whilst looking at your v4 deck that it has four screw-posts(twice), and yes the push posts are an option(use the screws and stop whining), and how it the bottom screw any easier? You like carrying around a screw driver in your pocket to refill? Cause I don't! Shouldn't need a needle nose, a longer nosed plastic tip should workfine(yanno, just like for filling the v4 you supposedly have).

Yes I was mistaken about the posts in my frustration....BUT....

The overall quality of the deck is not on par with V4. The top fill is a cute engineering feat but no more effective than the bottom screw. That O ring is going to need regular replacement...and yes I usually can find a screwdriver in my bag.

It may not be crap, but it's a crappy upgrade for Fogger.

I love the foggers, have 3 of them myself, but didn't jump on the v.5, they always do follow up versions to work out faults, like the v4 had 4 different versions before they moved onto the v5, when they get to the v5.2-v5.3 then might be tempted to try one out.

Do like the post holes, but not like re-building every week and top fill option is a good upgrade, but not enough to jump on one quickly though.

Very well fielded Sir, but the o-ring shouldn't really wear out too fast, it's getting flat sandwiched so it should't get chewed up. I personally dig the upgrades they've made. It shows they're progressing.

This version looks to be much less hassle than the v4(I mean post holes are SO much less fiddly) and not having to make sure I have a screw driver to refill(for almost everyone is a plus). You can leave the damn thing on your mod while you fill it. The additional air hole to release the vacuum while filling. No fill hole leaking into your mod. I personally don't dig liquid in electrical connections and talk about an o-ring getting chewed to hell fast. That bottom fill hole o-ring blows. It either chewed up fast or just popped off around the screw when tightened. Eventually just got fed up with that, but without it it tends to leak a tad(sometimes it doesnt sometimes it does).

Is it there yet, no. But, it's getting better. The wicking is still an issue. My thought is that liquid usually run down hill better than up, so why don't they design a deck that funnels juice down to the coil instead trying to wick it up to the coil(if that makes any sense). Or atleast widen the juice channels so it can keep up with a .5ohm build(cause no matter how I wick, it won't). Also why don't they slant the deck so juice runs away from the airflow instead of right into it? BAH

Anyway sorry, about the arse from elbow comment.

I'm still something of a noob so just getting going on a collection of good tanks. I haven't gotten a kayfun yet because I don't want to carry a screwdriver just to refill. But overall I'm happy with the fogger. I'm more concerned about losing the o-ring than trashing it. I wonder if some kind of ridge built into the top that slotted into the fill area would work?

I'm looking at Orchids for my next acquisition.

I tried building my v5 with 2 mm ReadyXWick - same wick I use for the v4.1 - but kept getting a ton of leaking.

Ended up using 3mm, and that fixed the problem.

Getting leaks on my V5 . 1st build was ok, very little leaking. Last 2 horrible. I'm sure it's somthing I'm overlooking. Everything seems snug. Tried having just the tip of the wick in the channel, better. Also raised the coils up from the air holes a smidge more. I think I must be loosing vacuum. Its basically new so I can't imagine the o rings going bad already. Any ideas?
