Glenn Fielder, a former developer for Respawn Entertainment and Sony, has written a blog post criticizing aspects of The Division's network model.
On his blog Gaffer on Games (thanks VG24/7) Fielder says the game "displays a fundamental misunderstanding of how FPS games are networked."
Fielder says players being able to use Cheat Engine in the game points towards a trusted client network model, and if this is the case, he doesn't believe cheating of this kind can be fixed. A fix on PC would mean the developers would have to "completely rewrite most of their netcode and game code around a server-authoritative network model."
