What's up guys I've been vaping for a little over 5 months and I started out with regulated mods, ego, then to tanks then rdas and istick 50, sig 150 and so on I started out regulated as I felt it was the safer choice for a noob at that time. Now I would like to get a mech mod (tube 18650) so, where to start? Spring vs. Magnet , hybrid this and that and so on any pointers would be great

magnet switches are much nicer imo. i started out in reverse with a tobh/ nemesis setup, then went reg'd. hybrid is ok, but make sure your 510 is protruding a little at least. the more the merrier in a hybrid setup

For starters I would deffo go with magnets and something with an adjustable center pin, to avoid some of the problems you can have with springs shorting or causing voltage drop and hybrid caps are a whole nother beast if your not careful.

And once your comfortable with your knowledge of Mech mods you can try other set-ups.

Just my opinion, you'll get more I'm sure as others read this thread.

Magnets are definitely preferred. I really like hybrid cap mods, but they do need something with an adjustable center pin on the rda. I probably wouldn't go with a hybrid just yet though. Start off with something like the FUhattan.

I've been looking at a bunch of them, deffinatly need something pocket friendly, locking. The Fu has a kick ass box though haha

I went full circle - started out with a cheap Nemesis clone, tried the K100, Caravela, Paragon, Stingray, Stingray X, Fuhattan, Penny, a handful of others I'm forgetting to mention, and came back to the Nemesis clone, with the spring swapped out for a triple magnet setup in the button. Haven't really felt the hankering to pull out any of my mechs in months though, as my Sig 100 gets the job done...back in the day (read: about a year ago) regulated mods were so expensive or so weak you had to go mech to get big power - not the case anymore. Since it can be done cheaply, safely, and with dual batteries, I don't have much use for mechs these days...but I'm not getting rid of them either.

I started with a k100 with a patriot atty. Moved up to a beacon after that. Now on occasion I use a doomsday with a holy grail doge

I only use mechs. I don't have the desire to go to regulated, as I find them to be bulky. I carry my Mechs in holsters, which is convenient for me. I have tried a lot of different mods, none of them clones. I now only use the mods for 3 different manufacturers. Bay City Vapors, Kuro, and Atmizoo.

This is my Kuro GT2:

I like all of them, but have to say the best made mech I have found is the Kuro GT2. All the contacts are silver plated copper, the clearance between the contact and the housing is .002, the button doesn't wobble, and the threads are like butter.

I got my SMPL/Derringer combo from fasttech for around $25. The form factor and performance are fantastic. Quality clones can help you decide if the pricey authentic is really the piece you want to spend a bunch of money on. Just a thought. Happy hunting.
