Retailer GameStop is expanding its involvement in game development and distribution with GameTrust, the company's non-traditional publishing arm.
Insomniac Games' Song of the Deep—the first title to be published by GameTrust—was announced in January. Today, the retailer revealed three more collaborations. Trine developer Frozenbyte, The Order: 1886 developer Ready at Dawn Studios, and Deadlight developer Tequila Works are the next three independent studios to sign on with GameTrust.
Unlike with traditional publishers, GameTrust "is not part of the creative process." Instead, the publisher allows "innovative independent developers" to take the lead, while GameTrust provides a global platform for displaying "creative and fun games."
