Get rid of Burnt Taste

I believe I'm in the right place.

So yesterday, I met my wife at my parents house after work. I had her take my vape to mom and dad's, and in route, it must have pocket fired and literally burnt the cotton in half. (even though it was turned off.)

I have a smok big baby beast with Rba on a smok m80 plus. I'm using cotton bacon and a 50/50 blend of PG to Vg. (lemon Tart flavor).

Needless to say, I had a nasty surprise after work yesterday. So I replaced the cotton, and it tastes better, but there is still a slight burnt taste. I'm using the factory coils and have been for about two months. My question is, should I replace the coils as well, to get rid of the burnt taste? And if so, what are the best kinds of wire to make a Clapton coil?

Probably should do a dry burn ( Pulse coil on low wattage) and wash with a little Dawn dish detergent & rinse with water. Then rewick. I have a feeling she must have turned it on, maybe taking a hit or something and turned it off when she gave it back. I didn't argue it, wasn't worth it lol.

UPDATE

turns out that when you turn it off and put it on charge, it automatically turns back on. I assumed it was still off. So dang.
