I've ordered a Wotofo LUSH plus RDA and It should be in my mailbox sometime tomorrow. I also ordered a Coilmasters DIY building kit (V2 i think) it comes with some 24gauge A1 kanthal so I bought another spool of that since that's what I'll be learning on. I also got some cotton bacon and ejuice of course. I'm really excited. I've been watching mad tutorials on youtube, lurking forums and googling, etc Basically learning everything I possibly can for the past week or so. I'm pretty confident moving forward but I'm wondering if there is a specific build I should start with? It will be a dual coil as the Lush plus doesn't have a single coil option. If I understand correctly it will be sub-ohm as I'm using 24 gauge? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I understand it will be alot of trial and error. I'm just looking for a starting point or two. Thanks in advance :) (sorry if this is in the wrong section)

Go to steam-engine.org to find out how many wraps for your desired ohm.

Well I guess it's safe to say I have covered alot of ground in my research. I have the steam engine website bookmarked ;) I guess I just want to know i'll be safe lol I'm using a Smok Alien 220w and plan on experimenting with 0.3-0.5 dual coil kanthal builds. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I'll never build below 0.2 (apparently that's the safe zone for Samsung 25R's) and no higher than 0.8ish. Is that a good and safe vape territory? also what would the difference between say a 0.2 and 0.8 vape and how does one know the wattage range to vape these builds at? I'm not interested in TC so basic wattage mode only..

Yes, .3-.5 ohms perfectly safe with your batteries & mod. Your Alien is a regulated mod & it won't let you fire before what's safe for it. Just keep your battery wraps in good condition.

Usually with a .20 ohm coil you'll need a higher wattage to get a satisfying vape. .8 ohm coil you can start at a lower wattage like for me .29 watts. You will see when you have it setup. Try a .20 ohm coil at .29 watts, you probably will get a weak vape. Just experiment, start lower & slowly up the wattage until you're satisfied.

Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it. I think I'm well prepared for my building journey you've really put my mind at ease.

Sooo making coils isn't easy lol I threw in the included coils that came with the RDA for now. I loose track of the # of wraps and blah. It will obviously take some time to get good. I may need a magnifying glass and more patience. That said I'm vaping some twisted coils at 50 watts and having a good time. I'll be practicing till I get it right..luckly I have lots of wire.

Are you looking for flavor, or clouds? I don't know much about any of this stuff yet, but I started (like two days ago lol) with the same wire and I'm shocked at the flavor using twisted spaced 6 wraps. I used a couple of videos on YouTube to learn how to make the twisted wire. At first I did it by hand, but it's a pain, so I started using a cordless drill and a vice to hold the other end. I tried making some clapton but the wire is a bit too heavy for outer wrap.

In any case, looks like we are leaning at the same time. If you get a chance check out the videos on how to make twisted wire. I mean it's pretty straightforward, but you'll need something to firmly hold one end while twisting the other. I used a pair of pliers in one hand and a sharpie in the other. Easy, but it's a workout. Definitely worth the effort though. I'll be doing spaced coils until I can see a reason why pinched coils are better. Like if I end up with a deck that is too small for a spaced coil or something.

Anyway, cheers! This is a lot of fun!
