Hey guys! For some reason I've had to create a new account losing touch with a few friends mate in the uk and state side which is quite upsetting....but anyway

To my question......

I currently use Samsung 25r's. As I really enjoy my mech mods, and I really enjoy a low sub ohm build I was wondering can you get an 18650 that will kick out more than 20amp?

If so, where and what?!

Yes, the LG HB6's are a 30amp batteries. If I remember correctly mooch's test actually rated em at 32 amps... I could be wrong but I'll try to find the link

I would suggest finding Battery Mooch's chart/lists. There's also a video of him on Youtube and he states that no battery is truly over 30amp and only 3-5 kinds are close to 30. He only suggests Sony, LG, and Samsung 18650s. It looks like the best current sustainable high drain battery is the Sony VTC5A. That is different than the regular VTC5.

He works in the industry and has personally run hundreds of tests on professional equipment to get his information.

Actually the Samsung 25R's are 20 amp continuous you should be safe running 30 A through them no problem

If you want to safely run 30 amp, I suggest LG, specifically HB2, HB4, or HB6.
They are rated for it and tested as such.

I just checked these out. Good battery, but only 1500mah :(

Capacity comes at the expanse of amp rating, that's just the way it is (at least with real batteries with real ratings).

You could get some 25A batteries with higher capacity then that.
Sony VTC5A 2500mAh
LG HD2C 2200mAh
LG HD2, HD4 2100mAh

I wonder why he didn't include the LG HE2's on that chart. I don't need really high amperage, being a tootle puffer, but the HE2's last a bit longer than the 25R's, despite having pretty much identical specs. With the 25R's, I get about a day and a half, maybe 2 days if I don't vape a lot, but with the HE2's, I easily get 2 days with 10%-20% left showing on my Xtar charger when I put them on to charge after 2 days' use.

I'd be very very happy to pay abit more for a 30amp knowing it's safe and reliable from a reputable manufacturer

A lot of Sony batteries are rated 30A wrongfully, this is because Sony rate them and other models as 30A@80C which is entirely not the same as 30A

I see so a 25amp is the highest I'll get on a 18650 really then

If you want higher capacity then 1500mAh, then yes.
Mind you that while Sony VTC5A is the best 25A battery, it costs around double then the other 25A batteries.

Battery technology may currently be peaked for a bit.
You EITHER get high amps or long life, not both.
I suggested those because you asked for 30 amp.
If you want longer life, you'll also get lower amp rating.

That's interesting, we haven't seen that in our testing. HE2 is fairly similar to 25R in all ways, although personally I always recommend the 25R because HE2's do seem to vary more from the factory.

I've been running the new Sony VTC6's, and I couldn't be happier. They seem to have even better life than my LG tootsie rolls.

In a Triade, that 9000mAh last forever!

Yes, I have 4 of each, and the HE2s consistently last a bit longer than the 25Rs, roughly half a day more. I vape at 10w or less, around 2 ohms. It's probably that very few people vape that way any longer, so you don't get to see how these high-performance batteries behave under such conservative usage.

I'll have to look back but I thought we had run testing all the way down to 5W or less and still the results I said held up, maybe you just got some really good HE2's or some bad 25R's. We haven't run testing on HE2's in a long time though, maybe we need to update our testing.

25R, HE2 and HE4 are roughly the same, don't see any reason replacing one with the other if you already have it.
Anyways, none are relevant to the OP question since he's looking for batteries with higher amp rating then 20.

But that's the thing; "testing" can't ever be just like living with and using a battery for a whole day or two. I mainly got both kinds because of good sales, at the time I bought, on one or the other -- I knew they were both 20A batteries, which serve my purposes very-well-and-then-some. :D And that their mAh ratings were virtually identical. But when I've got a green battery in my mod, sometime during the 2nd day, I start getting "well, that wasn't a hit at all" and have to change the battery. With a red battery in the mod, when I wake up on the THIRD day, it's still got usable power, but I go ahead and change it, knowing it will only last a few more hours. I can't explain it, other than, maybe LG rates their batteries more conservatively than Samsung, not wanting to overstate their ability as so many battery makers seem prone to doing.

Well you can get different grades of batteries even with authentic ones and you won't know exactly what you get.
LG seem to be supplying lower grade batteries in general lately, mooch mentioned it once or twice lately.
And last when you have a pair of old batteries and then get a new pair of a different kind with the same exact stats, the new pair will work better in most cases, just because of the fact that it's new and haven't lost capacity yet.

however, that is after a solid 5 minutes of testing it... I guess the bottom line is, if it starts to get warm, stop using it until it cools down
Well that's not really the point.
If one rates a battery as continuous 30A meaning drain from full to empty at 30A while still maintaining operational temperature and another as 30A@80C then it's entirely not the same thing and is meaningless.

It's like saying you can drive at 200 mph just as long as you stay in first gear.

All of mine, except for one pair of 25Rs, are about the same age; and even the original 25Rs are only a couple months older than all the others. I'm definitely not seeing a lack of quality in my LGs -- nor in the 25Rs either, but the LGs do last just a bit longer.

I think it's hard for those of you who vape at astronomical wattage levels (anything over 20w), or astronomically low resistance (anything under 1 ohm), to really grasp how these batteries behave at the very conservative settings I use. For a battery to last you guys 2 days, it would have to be 30,000 mAh or something. :D

So basically for almost everyone :D

All except us diehard tootle puffers. :D Y'all ran off and left us behind, but that's ok -- 60ml of juice lasts me 10 days or more. :giggle:

We just carry multiple battery mods, switch/charge a lot and carry bigger juice bottles (or better still DIY it) :)

Yep, 3 setups. One series, one switch, and one regulated very soon I hope.

100ml bottles at a time

Well, whatever works to keep ya off coffin nails, I guess. That's still my only consideration -- if it wouldn't bring back cigarette cravings, I might even quit -- but even at only 3.3mg, I know if I quit vaping, I'd start hankering for a smoke. Can't be having that. :)
