I got my Stingray, igo-w, & stillare today from Desire. The Stingray is my first mech since my natural from last spring, and the drippers are my first. After checking everything out, I was eager to get a build going. After cleaning the igo, I got to it. I tried a couple dual coils & couldn't get 2 coils to snug up on the center post, so I went with a single for now. 4/5 wrap of 32 a1 got me 1.67 ohm around cotton. Yes, I know I need to get lower. My next one, I'll go 3/4 until I get some thicker wire. This is my first dripper & second cotton build. So far I'm liking it. After some moderate drilling, I'm getting good flavor & vapor. If I'm up for it tomorrow or later this week, I'll try the stillare. Looking forward to those gold posts.

I've gotta bring home some sandpaper tomorrow & work on the Stingray switch. It's crunchy & was initially sticking.

I figured I might as well broaden my horizons a bit before getting some sort of DNA. Thought I'd share with everyone.

It really sounds like you're well on your way! As far as, "Yes, I know I need to get lower."; why? Just take it slow and play with it for a while before dropping substantially. Only you can decide what you like. If you're getting a really good vape with a higher ohm, enjoy it for a while. Then when you get tired of the "same old thing", then drop it a couple of ohms and repeat. There's no hurry to jump inot the deep end when you are just learning to swim! First and foremost, HAVE FUN! Try different types of coil builds at the higher ohms to find out how they act.

I'm not talking lower ohm's as in sub or super sub ohm, or cause it's the norm. I mainly use VW, and have gotten used to the constant & consistent power. I'm thinking around with 1.2 would be a good starting point. I know it'll take time to find what's right for me. The vape was good at the start. But now I noticed it's diminished. Still have good flavor, but almost no vapor. I checked & the wick is getting dark already. I'll play around with it tomorrow, see if I can get a better wick going.

I'll also try a twisted coil later too. See if I can get a decent twisted micro going.

Thanks chowder.

Round 2: 2/3 wrap around same drill bit, 1.1 ohm. Did, what I think to be, a better job of setting the wick up. First vape, pretty hot compared to what I'm used to. After a bit, I'm getting used to it.

I sanded down the switch too, as it was crunchy & sometimes sticking. It's better now. Still a little crunchy & some stick. I'll spend more time on it later. Getting better though

dont forget that with a mech mod you will have battery voltage drop. have to try and keep your battery voltage in mind dont want to ruin a good battery by over dishcharging it.

Touche, good point. Just checked, I was at 3.7. I'm so used to being able to check on the fly & swapping out at 3.4. Gonna have to retrain myself.

Looks like you're on a good path, though I'd personally get some thicker wire (I like 26g and 28g, just ordered some 24g to play with), and I try to keep my mech batteries at 3.7 or better, even though I'll vape the Panasonics that go in my VW mods down to 3.2. After a while you'll be able to vape by feel and flavor/vapor will let you guess to within 0.1 as to where your battery stands. Have fun!
