Guns are not the problem. I've fired rifles, handguns, shotguns, and a variety of assault weapons, and yet have not killed even one person. It ain't that my aim is bad. It's that (just like the majority of firearm owners) I am a responsible and sensible gun owner.
It's the irresponsible and senseless gun owners that give the rest a bad name.

Exactly. It's the typical American response to everything. Blame everything and everyone except the real problem. The problem is piss poor parenting and piss poor societal influences. Kids these days are not typically taught to take personal responsibility. It's never their fault. This attitude continues into adulthood. Also, contrary to popular belief, this has been going on long before the millennial generation. When I was growing up no other kids were raised to the standards me and my brothers were.
The only way to fix a problem this large, is to fix it at the foundation. We, as a society, bear the responsibility to help our children understand responsibility, duty and consideration and the consequences of ignoring any of them. Unfortunately, this problem is still in a growth state because nobody wants to admit where things have gone so wrong. TV, internet, video games, etc all provide more parenting than actual parents. Parents expect schools to babysit and discipline their children. If the school ever called my parents, other than due to illness, I lived in fear from that moment until I got home to face punishment. My parents didn't expect the school to do anything but hold me until they got there. As much as I may have feared the punishment, I respected authority because of it.
Times have changed, and not for the better.

When I was growing up, TV was the babysitter. I still spent most of my time outdoors.
These days, the babysitter is the iphones and video games, and most kids never play outdoors.
Somehow, it got too dangerous to go outside? Nope. Parents got too lazy to watch their kids.

I played outside a lot. My parents didn't watch. However, there was hell to pay if I wasn't home in time for dinner, or by dark, whichever came first.
