Well, I can't say for sure about the US as I haven't lived there in quite some time. But I've lived in the Far East, Southeast Asia, Near East Asia and the Middle East for 26 years. Racism is as common as people. It exists across all racial lines going in all directions. The difference is in some places it's right in your face, in others it's subdued but it's always there. At least in the US it is being addressed publicly. It may be not be fair or pretty, but most societal changes aren't anyway.
People can and do change, not all perhaps but most. I grew up in an Italian/Irish Boston family that was as racist as the day was long. I've been married to a woman for 20 years whose parents are Indian, Chinese and Black Jamaican. A lot of change can be discomforting or even painful but trying to change the world into one in which all are viewed and treated equally is a noble and worthwhile endeavor.
