Found out yesterday I have throat cancer. Don't know which kind yet or any numbers. They took a biopsy. Will be no operation, treatment will be chemo and radiation. Don't cut me any slack, I don't need any of that shit. Thanks for the welcome.

Cuss me if you need to but I need to ask somebody. I'm running Windows 7 and my computer is telling me that the free upgrade to Windows 10 will soon be over. Should I do it?

Can you give me info on said computer, like processor, ram, model number?

I'm safely assuming it's an older rig so I wouldn't personally, Windows 7 is easier to use in my mind.

If I have trouble like Microsoft says I might, I'll just buy another computer. Hell I have enough money to burn a wet mule. lol and maybe not much time left

Everytime you want to upgrade Windows, you need to double the RAM. :D

How much RAM could a 71 year old use?:)

ETA: If I knew I could double it I would have done it when I had more stamina.

Heh... well last year, I had to finally upgrade from winXP Pro, since MS had obsoleted it the year before. The Win 8.1 laptop I was looking at came with 4GB... but hell, I had 4GB in my XP box, and it wasn't even enough for that! So I chose a laptop that could go all the way to 16GB.. and bought that additional RAM and let Microcenter install it for me. Now, I VERY seldom have any issues that are because of too little RAM. In fact, I don't think I've ever had any problems of that nature with this PC. :giggle:

Not true, he could toss a SSD and call it a day. Unless of course he's using programs the are ram heavy like photoshop, but I can't say much as my laptop alone has 4gb of ram just for the graphics card and 16gb for the machine.

And if he has the space that processor can handle up to 8gb worth ddr3 sticks.
