NBC cancelled Hannibal last year, and one of its executive producers thinks she knows why.
According to Yahoo, Martha De Laurentiis believes online pirates are to blame. “When nearly one-third of your audience for Hannibal is coming from pirated sites," she said, "...You don’t have to know calculus to do the math. If a show is stolen, it makes it difficult, if not impossible, to fairly compensate a crew and keep a series in production.”
Hannibal was reportedly the fifth most illegally downloaded show of 2013, with numbers reaching into the millions.
