This is why it pays to RTFM (much as I hate doing so) when some smart Johnny decides to go with a non conventional set-up.
The actual procedure is bone-simple, though non-intuitive...
Screw the large batt cap in until it's flush or even slightly inside the body. This way the mod will sit on a flat surface without wobbling.
Then screw in the small center contact screw until the battery is held solidly but not overly firm... don't want to dent the base of your battery.
This allows the center screw to be as fully hidden by the cap as possible, thus avoiding that dreaded short if you're touching it when firing (I'll pass on that experience).
Does it all work, and work "well"? Yes.
Is it a ridiculous solution to the 26650/18650 problem? Maybe.
I'd like to think a spring-loaded arraignment would have done a better job, and without leaving open the possibility of an over-eager user damaging their battery... but I'm not a designer/engineer so what do I know?
