I normally suggest knowing what the hell you're doing BEFORE buying one
but since you seem to have one already, I suggest you not use it until you know what the hell you're doing :D

What build can you suggest? Im using lg choco 18650
So LG HG2 are 20A
8.4V @ 20A = 0.42
So I would say 0.45 or above.

Yes the fact that you don't know what batteries your using in a mech and what's their rating is a bad sign.

If you have 20amp batteries you will want .5ohms or higher. You can go a little lower if you Have higher amp batts, but even a 30amp battery will only get you to .3ohms. FWIW, 0.5ohms on a cricket is 141 watts and 0.3 is 235 watts.

Have you had another mod? What kind of builds did you use with that, and power levels if regulated. Maybe model a few build with Steam-engine.org.

I've used a simple dual coil build with Kanthal (don't remember the gauge) clocking in at 0.7 Ohm. To be honest, even that build is almost too hot for my taste. On a single 18650 mech mod, I like to use a simple coil build @ 0.3 Ohm. However, with a more fancy build, e. g. fused Claptons, you could go lower, due to the time it takes to heat up the coil(s).

That is also assuming he has a decent ohm meter for his coils. OP, please tell me you have an ohm meter.

My first build in my velocity was 16 wraps, 3mm diameter of 24 gauge kanthal. Don't go low. .7 or. 8 will be a thick billowy vape. I did a 18 wrap of thin wire (I forget what gauge) and it was pleasantly mild so don't be spooked by people pushing their batteries. You don't need to. I think they are over compensating for something....

Oh, and always build on a regulated. I use my Cuboid so I can test it and see my amp draw, wattage, resistance and check for shorts before using the mighty cricket.

I use LG HG2's and build between .45-.6

Don't mess with it until you are 100% comfortable with it. I bought mine on a whim due to a great sale but didn't touch it for a good few weeks. I'm sure it's been mentioned but your atty choice is very important as well.

I got mine shipped for £10. I was after a parallel but that was too good to pass. Fortunately I geeked up and my first build was mega. I have 3 married sets of Samsung 25r as you cant beat them for the price. FYI my experimental thin wire build came to 3 ohms! It was a pleasant vape and battery life for days. Like an airy .5 Kanger Subtank. Give it a go!

This... I mean exactly this.... Sounds like what I did. Mine sat on shelf the battery's in the case for a month. I tend to stay around 0.7 though.

Simply know the maximum amp draw you can or are willing to apply to your batteries...... then using Ohms Laws build at an ohm yielding less draw.

Steam-engine.org will do all the math for you.

I agree that you really should be using a regulated mod if you are not familiar (at least) with ohms law. Building without knowing can be very dangerous and we will may read about you in one of those "my vape blew up in my face" articles. Start slow and simple and be completely comfortable and knowledgeable before stepping off into the world or mechs.

Noisy Crickets are unregulated boxes? Didn't know that one.

On a lighter note... I feel like I'm gonna break that damn thing! :D

I think the new version crickets are protected or regulated.. but the originals are mechanical mods.
