Help can't stop wheezing and coughing.

I have been vaping about a month now. Before I was a very light smoker maybe one or two a day and sometimes none. I've been using a 6mg nicotine. After a week a switched to max vg because I was experiencing skin breakouts. All seemed better but now I'm coughing and wheezing a lot. I even busted out an old inhaler from my "heavy" smoking days. Could this be an allergic reaction to pg? I did read somewhere that max VG (which I use) still has some pg. Should I try 100% VG? I haven't had breathing problems like this since I smoked a pack of reds a day years ago. Any advice would be appreciated.

you're going to have to try different mixes to see what works.....I am sensitive to PG and don't vape more than 18% PG.....but real heavy VG makes alot of people feel like their breathing is heavy and congested.....some people vape nothing but VG.....there are sweetners that some people are allergic to.

Yep, that's me right there. 80pg works best for me, but I can tolerate a mix that's 70/30. Through trial and error, was the only way I figured it out. I tried 50/50, 60/40 and so on.

Welcome to VU... Trial and error on the ratios should give you an idea whats triggering it.

I had the same problem as Huck for quite a while, and the culprit was VG.

It went away after some time, interestingly enough.

I'm mixing different ratios, lately, trying to see if I can get a tolerance for these new tanks, LOL. So far... iffy. Gotta keep trying though. PG, as much as I prefer it, is harsh in these newer tanks. But I gotta get that flavah!

LOL I never found I lost flavor by switching to high VG, but then again with these tanks there's so much flavor I might have had to reduce the overall percentage if I was still high PG :)

Yep, I'm finding that, but I had so much base mixed up! I mixed a couple bottles of higher VG, way higher than I'm used to, and less nic. Hoping my experimenting goes well :)

I had that same coughing and wheezing. I have vaped for four years without that problem and suddenly it's an issue. I had just graduated off the egos to a bix mod and better tanks but had also increased my vg. For me it was the vg... Had to decrease it back down to no more than 40% and within a day the wheezing and coughing were gone.
