The LG HG2's that I have, the top post has 4 prongs, and flush with the top insulator ring and insulator wrap.

Where did you purchase them by the way?

If off Ebay or Amazon, this is why we warn not to buy them there, or if a Brick and Mortar vendor do you know what their supply chain for batteries are?

To get authentics I'd use these vendors

US/Can/Mex
Liionwholesale.com
illumn.com
imrbatteries.com
orbtronic.com
RTDVapor.com

UK/EU
fogstar.co.uk
batteriesplus.co.uk
eu.nkon.nl (Netherlands)

If you did get them from any of these vendors, I'd contact them directly and ask if LG has changed their designs. Liionwholesale has a rep that posts here regularly if you used them @Jon@LiionWholesale

But yeah, I wouldn't trust them buggers.

LG uses 4 prong positives, and definitely on their HG2's. Sorry that these do not follow that :(

I would contact the vendor you purchased those from. I haven't been keeping up on the latest 18650's lately due to a lot going on, but those are not HG2's.

If you can, get your money back, and buy from a reputable vendor.

If you push a battery too far the voltage just collapses, so you will get a low battery warning with a regulated mod pushing a battery too far, but it is not really a good way to stay safe with unknown batteries relying on this to protect you, and some chemistries are safer than others so best to just replace these, even if you do get out of pocket doing so.

Not much I can add except I just received some from Liion about a month ago and it is definitely 4 prong.
