Ok so I just got the kangertech topbox mini starter kit last week it came with the 4 coils (clapton,nickel,rba,and ss) BF accidentally fried the Clapton and rba, so I used the ss one yes with the red ring and well the housing wasn't even aligned right it was faulty and caused major leakage and ended in horrible flavoring.i ordered some square .5 ohm occ vertical coils and I have tried 3 already and each one just omits a burning plastic flavor no matter what i do, I have primed It really good even let it sit well over 15 minutes,I tried the needle poking holes in the cotton trick On one,I've changed flavor and wattage from between 8 all the way to 35 even, I have tried 65vg and max vg, no matter what there is this horrible burning flavor that is making me sick.also the topbox kit has one coil left and I'm confused because the housing says it's nickel (ni .15ohm 15w-50w) yet it has a red ring not blue. Please i am so stressed and at my wits end with this mod any help is appreciated!

Yes I start at 8watts and work my way up but it's just a burnt plastic taste the entire time as soon as I put the coils in I don't even get a few minutes of good flavor vaping at all.
What do you mean by your boyfriend accidentally fired the RBA? Do you mean he fired it with no juice on the coils? The best part about the Kanger Subtank is the RBA. It's easy to build and has aweome flavor. I still use it to this day on occasion. It's simple to build and works great so long as you keep it at 25w and below. If you don't want to use the RBA and prefer sticking to disposable coils, I would recommend looking for a new tank.

I also don't understand why the ni .15 ohm coil that came with the kit has a red ring,everywhere I've looked says it should have a blue ring if it's nickel, so I'm afraid to try it out and put it on ni TC because I'm not sure if it is mismarked or what
I've never heard of the vouge box or the riptide tank. Considering the upcoming regulations, you might want to consider something that you will be able yo get coils for. You should check out the Evic VTC mini or the Innokin Cool Fire 4 with the replaceable battery. The cool fire is sold in a kit with a decent tank. Sucks you are having a bunch of issues, I know how frustrating it can be.

I just discovered something about the Kanger Mods by accident. When you change tanks, if the new atomizer has a different ohm rating the mod doesn't recognize that automatically.
Steps to reset the mod:
1) remove the tank
2) turn the mod on and notice the ohm reading is 9.99
3) install tank
4) press fire button and it should say new atomizer.
5) click the "+" button for yes
it should now show the correct ohm for the atomizer you just inserted

Do you know if the evic vtc mini has good cloud production?
I know how to install a new atomizer and it reads right and all that isn't the problem but thank you
If you want a huge cloud, get a decent mod (sub-ohm) like the wisemec and a wotoflow stentorian steam engine. Huge Cloud... the Aspire Cleito does a good job of it as well. and your topbox mod should fire either of those tanks as well.

Cloud production is dependent on the coil / build. The evic will give you 75w of power, coupled with a good coil / build you should be able to achieve good vapor production.
I had the same problem with the square kanger coils I even tried boiling them and nothing helped until I got the round coils and trashed the square ones. Suspect a bad batch.

Thank you so much and yeah I keep thinking its these square coils but Idk everywhere I've read they work fine for others on the same tank and mod. Does anyone know why though that I would have a .15 ohm ni that came with the kit but has a red ring instead of blue???? I heard nickel has a blue ring and when I search for answers nothing comes up but i would like to try it since it is the only coil I have left other than the square ones but I'm afraid it might be mismarked and not work right or mess up
No more no less than any other mod with like power. Actually a mod producing a cloud would be a bad thing. Atomizers produce clouds. When the mod does it....The mod dies.
That's another HUGE problem with Kanger; they have a million variations of their shitty coils and they are poorly labeled. Blue normally denotes nickel but Kanger decided to go their own route and confuse things. They also use the abbreviation "SUS" for Stainless steel rather than SS like everyone else.

It should be printed on the coil. I do believe the .15 coil is in fact nichrome.

Oh ok... Personally I wouldn't use it. Aside from Ni200 being sketchy to vape, Kanger makes some of the worst ni200 coils out there.
Yeah I'm starting to hate kanger I thought they would be good cause I use to use an Itaste mvp with a kanger mega genitank and it worked great but the tanks threading went bad and the mod died
