I won't swear to it but I recall seeing somewhere that the stickers are an air freight requirement.
Ding ding! Due to the potentially explosive and volatile nature of lithium batteries and many other batteries, they are required to carry individual labels identifying precisely what type of battery they are. Size, voltage, capacity, and chemistry are all mandatory.
So basically, all batteries shipped by air will carry these labels at some point. Since most of the batteries we use are not made or re-wrapped domestically, it stands to reason that most batteries on the market will bear these stickers.
What's always been stranger to me is receiving batteries that
don't have the stickers on them.
I always imagine some guy sitting at an assembly line in a domestic warehouse meticulously removing each sticker.
