Help plz!
I just accidently tried to measure my 26650 battery with a digital caliper, yeah stupid I know.
Anyway, this was the result on my brand new battery.
You guys (and gals) think I can still use it? Or I should dispose of it correctly? Plz keep in mind that it is near impossible to find a 26650 battery here in my country.

As you can see, it only got some swelling, nothing torn at the bottom (negative) part. The top (positive) part is still perfect.

If you dead shorted your battery by touching both positive and negative ends with metal calipers then no you shouldn't use it.
If it swelled up it means there's internal damage and possible molten insulator.

Oh and there is no need to measure it, a 26650 battery is 26X65 with a round form factor.

Thanks
I'll properly discard it then
BTW, the measurement wasn't for me since I already knew but to prove a point in a stupid argument in my group.
I was trying to tell them ... first 2 digits is diameter, 2 after that is height, and here's where I may got it wrong .... isn't 0 (zero) means it's flattop?

no the zero is 65.0 ...... 26 diameter 65.0 tall = 26650 they leave out the decimal point.

Hard to tell from the pictures but if the wrap is just blistered it's probably ok but if there is ANY swelling or damage to the can don't trust it, trash it and call it a lesson learned. ie: don't short a high drain battery...oops You can always re-wrap it.

I've heard that the 0 in 18650, 26650, etc indicates the form factor is round, but don't believe everything you see on the internet...

The wrap is just blistered. But how how can you tell about damage to the can? Is there any tool to measure it? Amp meter? Battery charger?
Also, will there be any risk if I put it in a battery charger? I have an XTAR VC4 and Efest's LUC V4.

Personally for me it is when in doubt through it out. I had a battery vent the day I bought it. I saw a blemish in the wrapping and wasn't sure and it worked good in mods with a plastic sled. The moment I put it in a metal tube mod it went off.

Has anyone had a battery just run it's life out? I've been using the same 2 batteries to swap for this one mod. Now, I'm running through an 18650 in one day. I charge it when it's down to 1 bar. Last time I wasn't getting hits and saw that it was stone dead. Charged it and was done by that night. Just curious.

I also have a chip or two on the wraps. Time to re-wrap or toss it?
