I have been diy for about 2 months with little luck !!
I been using flavour art and i also got some from mist which was the company I was buying from before diy
I have got vape wizard 3 weeks ago but still not as smooth as i would like
I have some steeping from beginning of may but still get a dry burning taste

I don't know about the dry burning taste...could be too high volt/watts, or the recipe. I just ordered some tobacco flavors and want to try a few recipes. I found this recipe on Recette's that you may enjoy...it really looks good. Maybe you just need to revamp everything and try something new. Here is recipe link : http://www.lediypourlesnuls.com/villain-vapors-capone/ Hope this helps some :)

Sounds to me that you should try using NET's in your mixes.
Using just tobacco flavoring never worked that well for me.

oh ok I will look at NET am I right in thinking its dried tobacco

It is usually made from cured tobacco, but you can home make it any way you please.;)
(I don't know of any fresh tobacco NETs for sale)

If by a 50/50 mix you mean PG/VG, that is fine and should not matter in regard to your dry burning taste. Without knowing your recipe and method of vaping, it's tough to speculate where that might be coming from.

Perhaps some small (tiny) amounts of other flavors would smooth out your tobacco's .. small amount of fruit, custard, cream,
or vanilla/choc/caramel could help (not much as you say you only like Tobacco flavor)

I have some steeping from beginning of may but still get a dry burning taste

perhaps if you posted the equipment you are using and the settings TC / watts / wire / tank / mod / etc - something there may be affecting your flavor as well ?

hmm also thinking.. tobacco is a dry flavor to begin with... originally we SMOKE it using fire lol which is a hot / drying type method ... what type of 'smoothness' or not 'dry' are you looking for? more sweet? more aftertaste? oh another question .. what FA tobacco flavors are you using?

I love FA but their tobaccos aren't my favorite. For a really great tobacco base try Flavorah cured tobacco around 3%. Then add a little TFA RY4 double or a FA tobacco as an accent flavor.

How is the base you are using without any flavors? Have you tasted your pg and vg seperately? Tested those with just nic base?

Most of the tobacco vapers seem to gravitate towards Hangsen and inawera. I have several of both and they are awesome.

I personally don't much care for ry4 vapes so that is a consideration for you.

Then it comes down to recipe and such. A small amount of vanilla can do wonders for a dry tobacco

Hi
I have just done the vg pg test that was fine then i done vg pg and nic test I can taste something in the nic at the back of my throat !!
I fill like i am going mad 1 min i think its ok then i think no i dont like it
Should i taste anything ?

I don't know which nic. you are using or how much. It could be a nic. that has "Throat Hit" (TH). Some folks like it, some don't. Some are clean and some might have a chemical note.

When I mix the Chem Nic brand @ 18mg., It's clean, but I get not only TH but my mouth feels numb for 10 mins. YMMV

sorry its 72 mg

I hope you are diluting the nic. way down before vaping it. ( :D )

I believe darkstar is a UK nic. and unfortunately have no experience with it. With my being here in the U.S. I'm not sure what your alternatives might be. Hopefully someone more local to you will chime in.

@Melshort27 yes was just going to say.. double check that nic as darkstar (uk vendor) lists 7.2% nic on their web site .. (interestingly enough one selling point is that they use US sourced NIC .. where as some of the premium NIC in the US is European ;p (just noting)) They do claim it's very pure and clear etc etc.. so hopefully that is good - Like RonJS I also am not familiar with that NIC so can't speak as to my experience.

Another thing .. you mentioned RY4D as an FA flavor .. FA makes an RY4, but more likely, is it possible that you have TFA RY4D ? TFA makes one called that and to add to the confusion TFA now labels their flavors as 'Fa' (can get very confusing) so you need to go slow and not assume stuff.

Everyone has different tastes so it can be hard to recommend but most here seem to prefer the TFA RY4D to FA RY4 (TFA is The Flavor Apprentice (also known as The Perfume(r's) Apprentice / FA is FlavourArt ) as far as those RY4's go.

Additionally please make sure you are using an ejuice calculator software and mixing your NIC accordingly. -lots of tutorials re this here

There are many many many different tobacco flavors out there Hangsen & Inawera are two that many like but most flavor companies have several tobacco flavors and they are all different so it can be a daunting task starting out. Patience will reward you in this search .. however in the meantime you probably need something to vape .. ;p I'd say start with the TFA RY4D and as I mentioned earlier look for a simple recipe (many many here) with some small amounts of flavoring as that is what usually 'rounds out' tobacco vapes. I think from what you are saying you don't want a flavored vape with tobacco .. but a mostly tobacco vape.. check this recipe out and read through the thread .. definitely should give you some good information ..maybe a starting ratio etc.. hope this helps!

sorry 7.2

No problem!

I now remember that a year or more ago Molin Shop sent me some free flavor samples and some (.1 liter) of their NicBase VPG-12. (This stuff http://www.molinshop.com/nicbase-vpg-12-mg-ml-100ml.html )

I tried the nic. back then and found it very clean & smooth. (No TH) Heck, I just found the still 1/2 full bottle that was sitting around at room temperatures (and higher) and it was still clear and had no off notes. (The production date was May 5, 2014)

What made it that way was the Chemnovatic nic. that was used. That is very good Nic.! If it were me, I certainly would look for some of that. Maybe from www.vapesque.co.uk/products/chemnovatic-72mg-nicotine-base.

It may cost more (?) but if you calculate the difference between cheap and excellent nic it may come out to just a few shillings a day. (if the vote goes that way. ( :) )

I went thru a lot of tobaccos before settling in on Hangsen's Essence. Believe they have by far the widest array of flavors (around 75), and virtually all of can be mixed solo with good to excellent results. If you're in the US, known good sources for their Essence include Bull City Vapor and RTS Vapes. A good US source for their pre-mixed is Caterpillar Vapes. Their RY4 is less sweet than some others and you might prefer their RY3 instead. Churchill (i.e. Winston) is a good mild cigarette vape. Desert Ship (Camel) and Magic Mix (Lucky Strike) are also widely liked. Arabic gets rave reviews from many vapors (including myself) and has a more full flavor.

I will 2nd the Hangsen tobac concentrates. I've been vapin the hangsen tobacs for well over a year and a half. I have no incentive to stray into other concentrates, the few I bought have been disappointing. HS Highway, Desert Ship and No5 are my go to bases(along the line of grassy vapes). I'm more of a blender than a mixer, I build standalones then blend them together in different ratios and so far IMO been rather successful with my tobacco blends. I use desert ship as a base for my wife's cotton candy mix. (4.5% DS+3/4% CC). I do use a few tobacco absolutes IMW Garuda, RTS TA and INW Virginia to add the extra goodness. I also bought a couple broken fat cuban cigars and going to give a NET a try, they been sitting in a jar of PG for a month now and got another month to go.
The Hangsen tobacs go past the just tobacco vape by making my grape and cola flavors pop when mixed together so it could pop other flavors out also but there are many many flavors I simply don't like so I wont buy them as concentrates since I didn't like them as a commercial juice. I spent 2 years buying commercial tobaccos that were either stale tasting, like eating a mouthful of dirt or best of all licking a ashtray just to be disappointed time and time again, not saying about the amount of money spent
I guess I got lucky with my DIY tobacco since Hangsen tobaccos were some of my first mixing experiences and found success so why drift away from something that I know is good.
Good luck on your tobac quest.
