Help with Vaporesso Target 75w Kit

So I finally got a Target 75w Kit in white w/ black buttons (after finally resigning myself to never finding one with orange buttons) and was really excited to get it as its my first ceramic coil tanked mod kit. Really wanted to dive into the thing, but I IMMEDIATELY ran into problems with the tank/coil after getting it. Let me explain...

After getting the kit I put it together and set it all up. I put the coil in, primed it a little, filled the tank, let it sit about 10 minutes and then went to hit it. First hit I got some "dust" sucked up and a bad taste. I assume the dust is the ceramic, must have been residual because the coil looks intact (from what I could see anyway). Took a few more hits and it always has this really "off" taste, and for lack of a better description, it tastes "ceramic". You can taste the juice, but all through out you get that ceramic taste side by side with the juice and sometimes overpowering it. Its the 0.9 ohm kanthal coil. It also came with a 0.2 Ni200 coil I believe, which I havent tried because I run in power/wattage mode and so nickel wouldnt be good for that.

So to anyone with this mod/tank/kit, is this a normal thing? I cant imagine it is. How did/does yours work? Have any issues with it? Anything similar? Any input is appreciated. Id really like to get this sorted as I hear that ceramic coils are suppose to be really clean and "pure" for the juice and could be the wave of the future. I want to love this thing, but its not making it easy lol.

Local shop sells them here. I've hit the mod myself. I do not notice a "huge" difference in flavor, nor did it have an off taste.

I'd say your coil is fucked. Next time I guess, blow on the coil before install. I've never heard anyone mention the dust thing before.

I got the target six days ago and it's been great no problems. I started with a 80vg and I could however I wanted (slow, fast , five hits in a row). I run the kanthal about 30-35 W. If switched liquids a few times and now as of two days ago I'm back at my favorite 80vg liquid and yesterday I would take four puffs and the next how be burnt and it's been like for a day. I thought about trying the nickel coil but the kanthal has been so great. I'm been told by two different vale shops two totally different things. And any input would be awesome thanks!

Mythical I have had the Target now for about 2 weeks, still on the initial coil. I had a super dry hit the second hit I tried. I completely flooded the coil trying to prime it and didn't notice. So I though it would be good after that, but no I had to let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Since then I have gone trough 4 full tanks and partially a 5th. I have changed the liquid 4 times. The first I got a little bit of the previous liquid's taste for about 4 draws. The taste has been fantastic, though its a very dry vape and my mouth feels drier after two draws then me chain vaping on a Herakles for 10 minutes. When I am switching liquids I dry fire it and blow through the drip tip softly (usually with my lips several inches away like you would a pop bottle). After refilling, re-priming, and letting it sit for a bit I have never gotten a burnt taste after affect of the dry firing.

I am generally not a person who likes to change liquids on coil. But this guy has been great about it, so in the future till I eventually get into the stage of dripping. This will probably be my flavor tasting tank because I don't have to worry about the idea of tossing a coil after a single tank, or feeling I have to go through a full bottle of premium juice at once just because I didn't want to waste a coil.

Just wanted to give you an idea of what I my experience was to give you an idea of what I assume a working coil should be like. In the sense of running electricity and juice through it, it should be a near indestructible coil. That said the ceramic is a very porous ceramic and very brittle. Physically the coil is delicate. My guess is that your coil bounced around at some point from when it was manufacturer till you started using it and the "dust" was part of the coil being broken off and that there is a part of the Kanthal not touching the ceramic and that's giving the burnt taste. I would write that off as a dud and personally recommend that if a ceramic coil dumped particles out when installing it, it probably isn't a good idea to keep using it.

Marley your problem sounds like a wicking issue. I am pretty sure each of the liquids I have tried have been either 70/30 or 80/20 VG/PG. The coil wicks by using a cotton wick that surrounds the the ceramic that has the coil imbedded in it. You might want to dry it up before refilling it by doing the dry firing the way I mentioned above. But cotton breaks in based on the juice you put in, it might just be that it broke down more if you used a less viscous liquid the last few times and the 80/20 is just jamming it up.

Hey topweasel thanks so much for your help. I have tried to soak my coil and I left it for 30 mins and it didn't work. That was also my first coil and maybe by then it was just to far gone. I tried it with the new coil and it worked really good. I get a kinda funny very faint taste every once and awhile. I was also told by a vape store that you don't even have to prime them because they wick so fast which sounds like bullshit. And I love your method for changing liquids I had a tobacco flavor and it didn't take much to get ride of the taste

I got a Target Pro kit about 2 months ago with no problem until now. It seems to auto charge when it is just sitting. This started happening all of a sudden and I do not know what to do with it. Before I go to bed I take the battery out just in case. Anyone else have this happening?
